Did you know that #MD03 has one of the largest Indian festivals in Maryland (and the country)? The Festival of India - Diwali Mela draws in more than 20,000 guests over the weekend to celebrate the cultural diversity of the Indian community with amazing music, dance, food, clothing, crafts, & more.
These additional options are crucial to parents and families as the cost of living rises, which is why I’m committed to keep fighting for HeadStart funding in Washington.
But, there’s exciting progress: Howard County just expanded its HeadStart program to provide free child care for children as young as 6 weeks through 2 years old.
In Howard County, full-time child care can cost over $15,000 for one child. With the ongoing affordability crisis, many Maryland families – especially those with working or student parents – are struggling to afford this care and stay in the workforce.
