I will be returning to Washington tomorrow. Congress should demand immediate and detailed information on the situation on the ground, the location and security of Iran’s nuclear materials, and the next steps in Trump’s military engagement.
On Juneteenth, we commemorate the end of slavery in America and reaffirm our commitment to justice and equality for all. It's been an honor stopping by Juneteenth events across IL-11 these past few days—celebrating history, community, and the ongoing fight for freedom.
From the administration that decries spending, over $45 million to use troops for Trump's birthday party is hypocritical at best. This parade is reminiscent of Russia and North Korea. Despite Trump's envy of them, our military's strength speaks for itself—no dictator-style fanfare necessary.
Earlier this week, RFK Jr. purged every single expert from the CDC's vaccine advisory committee. He has already started replacing these health experts with anti-science, anti-vaccine cronies. I joined my Democratic colleagues in demanding that he reverse this dangerous decision.
Dreamers are our coworkers, classmates, neighbors, and valued members of our communities. For 13 years, DACA has allowed them to live freely in the only country most of them have ever known. We must continue to fight for a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers.
RFK Jr. just fired every single expert from the CDC's vaccine advisory committee so he can replace them with his anti-science, anti-vax cronies. This is a gut punch to public health. Under this administration, more Americans will die from preventable diseases.
Last month, the Trump Administration abruptly canceled a $5.6 million student mental health grant for Crystal Lake District 47—funding that passed with bipartisan support in Congress. I took to the House floor to stand up for the students of Crystal Lake and to call out Republicans' hypocrisy.
As we all watch Trump and Elon fall out in real time, don't forget the damage that has already been done. DOGE raided the sensitive information of millions of Americans. My Republican colleagues should join me in calling for transparency from Trump about what Elon was up to.
Head Start provides high-quality early childhood education for hundreds of thousands of children across the country. Abruptly closing Head Start offices will take vital support away from children who need it most. I joined my colleagues to demand answers from RFK Jr. about this reckless decision.
