Dr. Peter Marks is a respected and qualified public servant who has long overseen vaccine regulation at the FDA. RFK Jr. just forced him out.
RFK Jr. is anti-vaccine, anti-science, and only wants people around him who will confirm his baseless conspiracies. Dr. Marks's departure is a great loss.

Dr. Katie Bouman and the Event Horizon Telescope team changed science forever when they captured the first image of a black hole in 2019.
Dr. Jane Wright's research revolutionized cancer treatment, improving its effectiveness and saving millions of lives.
"The First Lady of Physics," Dr. Chien-Shiung Wu, worked on the Manhattan Project and changed how we detect radiation and enrich uranium.
Dr. Grace Hopper was a computer scientist, mathematician, and rear admiral in the U.S. Navy. Her contributions have shaped the way that we program computers to this day.
As a scientist, I know that progress in STEM relies on diverse perspectives and ideas. This Women’s History Month, let's celebrate the many women in STEM whose groundbreaking contributions have shaped our world and continue to inspire future generations.
Once again, the Trump Administration is ignoring science, putting American lives at risk, and leaving us dangerously unprepared for future public health crises.

As the top Democrat on the Financial Institutions and Monetary Policy Subcommittee, I questioned witnesses on how Trump and Elon's efforts to shut down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau would benefit everyday Americans.
Hint: It won't.
REMINDER: The deadline to submit artwork for the 2025 Congressional Art Competition is April 18!

Last week, I had a productive tour and sit-down with the staff at Home of the Sparrow—a housing support nonprofit in McHenry County.
We discussed how they could be impacted by potential federal funding cuts and how Congress can better address the housing crisis.
ICYMI: I just sent out a newsletter on Trump's illegal attempt to dismantle the Department of Education. Read it at foster.house.gov/newsletters

Today, Republicans on my subcommittee are holding a sham hearing on tweaks to CFPB policies and organization, which feels a bit like them rearranging the deck chairs on the Lusitania after torpedoing it.

Last week, I was proud to present Pace Suburban Bus with $1 million in federal funding to purchase five battery-electric paratransit buses for McHenry County.
These new buses will bring more reliable public transportation and result in cleaner air for McHenry County residents.
This level of incompetence is appalling. This was an egregious mishandling of classified information that should have every American on high alert.
Congress must hold the Trump Administration accountable.
Over six decades after the passage of the Equal Pay Act of 1963, women on average still make only 75 cents for every dollar earned by men. This is unacceptable.
This #EqualPayDay, I’m fighting to pass the #PaycheckFairnessAct to ensure fair wages for all women.
This week, I toured Thrive of Fox Valley, a short-term medical rehabilitation center in Aurora.
I spoke with staff members and patients to learn more about the personalized care they provide and discussed how I can better support them in Congress.
The SBA lacks the institutional knowledge and the staff—especially after DOGE cut over 40% of their workforce—to handle student loan disbursement.
Trump is yet again creating unnecessary chaos, this time at the expense of students and their parents.
Earlier this week, I met with local superintendents to discuss how Trump's illegal attempt to gut the Dept. of Education will impact their students.
Millions of students in IL public schools are now at risk of losing vital federal support. I will keep fighting for the resources our schools deserve.
Join me on March 30 to honor the brave men and women who served in the Vietnam War! During the ceremony, Vietnam veterans and surviving spouses will be honored with a special lapel pin commemorating their service.

On today’s Democratic Daily Download, I covered Trump’s Executive Order to dismantle the Department of Education—paving the way for Republicans to slash support for students, teachers, and schools.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social will fight this every step of the way.
