Intimidating and slashing NASA’s workforce will have devastating impacts on the U.S. space program as we know it. A strong NASA is vital to our economic and national security. I’m exploring all avenues as Ranking Member of the Space & Aeronautics Subcommittee to preserve NASA’s workforce.
At least 2,145 senior-ranking NASA employees are set to leave as part of a push to reduce staff.
🚨As recovery efforts continue across Central NC, emergency shelters are now open in both Durham and Orange Counties for any displaced individuals and families: 📍Emmanuel AME Church 2018 Riddle Road Durham, NC 27713 📍Smith Middle School 9201 Seawell School Rd Chapel Hill, NC 27516
I am deeply saddened by the news of the floods in Texas, and my heart is with the victims, their loved ones, and the first responders during this difficult time. Now more than ever, it's imperative that FEMA use its resources to assist recovery efforts. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2025/...
My heart is heavy seeing the widespread damage across Chatham, Durham, and Orange Counties caused by the flooding from Tropical Depression Chantal. I’m incredibly thankful for the swift actions of our first responders working tirelessly on recovery efforts. (1/2)
Wishing everyone across #NC04 and the country a happy and safe 4th of July! Today, as we celebrate our nation's core values of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, let us recommit ourselves to ensuring that every person in America can fully enjoy these fundamental rights.
Republicans have made it clear where their priorities lie: with the top 1%—not working Americans or those in need. Today, I voted against their tax scam which will gut food assistance and healthcare programs, and raise taxes on the lowest-income households in the country. Read my full statement.
Reminder: Trump and the Republicans’ Big, Ugly Bill will devastate health care access for communities across North Carolina. I’m on the House Floor ready to vote—we just need 4 Republicans to join us to stop it.
@hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social has been speaking on the House Floor for over 4 hours in opposition to Trump’s Big, Ugly bill. I’m proud to stand with him and @housedemocrats.bsky.social as we fight back against the GOP’s reckless budget. Watch live: www.youtube.com/live/3pbFrch...
Jeffries: "As a result of the all-out Republican assault on healthcare, people will die. Tens of thousands, perhaps year after year, as a result of the Republican assault on the healthcare of the American people. I'm sad. I never thought that I'd be on the House floor saying this is a crime scene"
I was proud to join my Congressional Black Caucus colleagues to call out how Republicans are targeting Black Americans with their Big, Ugly Bill. As America faces a Black maternal health crisis, Republicans are stripping away Medicaid benefits. It’s cruel and Black women deserve better.
Today marks 61 years since the Civil Rights Act was signed into law. As we honor this landmark piece of legislation, we know that our fight for true equality continues. Now more than ever, we must recommit ourselves to ensuring a just and fair society for all.
Republicans are openly & willingly pushing for cuts to Medicaid & SNAP—programs that millions of Americans rely on to survive. My colleagues & I asked Republican leadership to consider an amendment which protects against these harmful cuts. Their response? They refused to even “entertain” the idea.
Trump’s Big, Ugly Bill makes the largest Medicaid cut ever, takes food assistance away from millions of Americans, and still adds to our debt by $4 trillion? You can’t claim to support hardworking Americans and vote for this bill.
What kind of person votes to cut healthcare coverage? Not @housedemocrats.bsky.social, that’s for sure. This morning, I stood alongside my Democrat colleagues to make it clear that we are a NO on Trump’s Big, Ugly Bill.
The GOP is trying to fund a tax break for billionaires by stripping Americans of their health care. Everyday, we hear from our constituents about the rising cost of living—and still, Republicans refuse to bring bills to the floor that prioritize hardworking Americans over the ultra-wealthy.
