Extreme heat kills more Americans yearly than any other weather event. Terminating $4.55M in funding, including over $2M at Durham’s Museum of Life & Science, aimed at addressing this danger will have detrimental effects. I co-led a letter with Rep. Lieu urging @NOAA to reverse this cancellation.
Happy #PrideMonth! Pride is a time to remember that no matter who you are, or who you love, you are perfect just the way you are. As an ally and member of @equality.house.gov, I will keep fighting for the LGBTQ+ community to ensure everyone is able to live safely & freely as their authentic selves.
My heart is with the loved ones of all those affected by the terrorist attack in Boulder, CO yesterday on the eve of Shavuot. I stand with our Jewish community during this time, and we must continue to commit ourselves to stomping out antisemitism and hate in all forms across our society.
I met with the Air Line Pilots Association to discuss how we can take steps to solve the air traffic controller shortage. Air traffic controllers are vital & as a member of @transportdems.bsky.social, I'm focused on developing an enduring workforce pipeline to ensure the safe flow of air traffic.
Great to visit Quadridox in Hillsborough to learn how they’re advancing X-ray imaging to boost airport security & efficiency and reduce hospital costs & patient wait times. Originally funded as spinout from Duke, Quadridox shows the transformative impact universities can have across communities.
Navigating federal agencies for passport renewals, work authorizations, VA benefits, and more can be difficult—but my casework team is here to help! If you need assistance with federal agencies, don’t hesitate to reach out to my Durham District Office at 919-967-7924.
On Memorial Day, we honor the heroic servicemembers who lost their lives protecting our country. Everyday we work to honor them, their families, and their loved ones by upholding the democratic values that they worked tirelessly to defend and preserve.
5 years ago today, George Floyd was senselessly murdered by law enforcement officials. He should still be alive today. Congress has gone too long without action, and we must honor his memory with tangible reforms to our criminal justice system and improve public safety.
I’m proud to share that my office has helped return over $3 million to residents of #NC04 through casework! As always, if you’re having issues with a federal agency, don’t hesitate to give my office a call at 919-967-7924.
This week, I had the opportunity to discuss how Democrats are fighting back against the GOP’s Medicaid cuts with @domesticworkers.bsky.social. With House Republicans voting for record Medicaid cuts early this morning, finding avenues to defend this critical program is more important than ever.
I am horrified by the killing of two Israeli Embassy staffers outside of the Capitol Jewish Museum last night. My heart is with the victims and their loved ones. Antisemitism has no place in our society, and we must unite against all forms of hate and bigotry.
BREAKING: Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office said he is “shocked” by the “horrific, antisemitic” shooting of two staff members of the Israeli embassy in Washington. Netanyahu said he had instructed Israeli missions around the world to beef up security.
ICYMI: Republicans held a vote late into the night to cut Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, food assistance, school meal programs, and more. Somehow, they're still ADDING to our debt because their billionaire tax breaks are so extreme. It's a rip-off. My full statement:
Republicans still won't reveal the final text for the tax scam that they plan on voting on today. They're hiding from the American people. The GOP needs to answer for their plans to make record cuts to social services, including stopping free lunches for over 400,000 kids in need in North Carolina.
I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Congressman Gerry Connolly. Congressman Connolly was a true champion and advocate for the people of Northern Virginia. My thoughts are with his family, staff, and loved ones during this difficult time.
