The NSF is under siege by anti-science politicians who are cancelling important scientific research in the name of political censorship.
My Democrat colleagues on the Science Committee and I wrote to Acting Director Stone with a simple question: who is in charge here, actual scientists or DOGE?
Republicans are putting the final touches on their plan to cut Medicaid and food assistance by $1 trillion at today's @energycommerce.bsky.social markup.
Americans can't afford this budget. We're calling on just 4 Republicans to stand up for what is right & join us in stopping this reckless scheme.
Wishing a Happy Mother’s Day to the moms and mother figures in North Carolina and across the world!
Thank you for your unconditional love, sacrifice, and dedication—you all give us so much to celebrate every day.
It was great to meet with Mayor Anderson & @chtransit.bsky.social officials to discuss the town’s North-South BRT project.
As a member of @transportdems.bsky.social, I'm always proud to support local transit projects that will upgrade existing infrastructure & increase accessibility for riders.

The Republican budget cuts basic needs programs for women and families, including Medicaid and SNAP.
On today’s Democratic Daily Download, @demwomencaucus.bsky.social Chair @fernandez.house.gov shares what moms really want for Mother’s Day. (Hint: it's not tax breaks for billionaires.)
#NC04 is leading in developing quantum technologies thanks to R&D at our local universities, like Duke's Quantum Center.
At the Science Committee hearing, I asked about how we can ensure quantum education at all levels, even K-12, to strengthen our growing quantum workforce.

🗓️ NEXT WEEK 5/14: My office will be holding Mobile Office Hours at the Chatham County Historic Courthouse in Pittsboro, NC from 11AM-1PM.
Come by to speak with a member of my constituent services team if you’re having issues with a federal agency – we’re here to help!
#NC04 has seen major investments in manufacturing, life sciences, clean energy, & more which are creating good-paying jobs and are expanding our economic base.
I shared more about the Fourth District’s development and efforts to sustain this growth at the bipartisan NC Economic Development Summit.
During National Nurses Week, we recognize all of the hardworking nurses in #NC04 and around the country.
Thank you for your tireless dedication to your patients and commitment to providing lifesaving care for all.

The leader of FEMA was fired a day after defying Trump by saying that eliminating the agency would harm the American people.
He spoke the truth and was fired for it. And now, Americans are even less safe, especially with hurricane season around the corner.
An estimated 6 million Americans have an unruptured brain aneurysm, but funding for research surrounding this condition has been inadequate.
I was proud to meet with the Brain Aneurysm Foundation and the family of Ellie Helton as we work to pass Ellie's Law and bolster research & treatment efforts.
It was great meeting with ACLU NC Executive Director Chantal Stevens to discuss community safety and crime prevention initiatives.
Although Republicans control Congress, I'm looking at every route possible to pass bipartisan legislation to make our communities safer.
Trump's freezing of Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funds puts transit projects, like the Raleigh-Richmond S-Line, in jeopardy.
Experts at the @transportdems.bsky.social hearing were clear: grant freezes will lead to project pauses and job losses. This funding must be reinstated.

During Public Service Recognition, we honor all of the federal workers in #NC04 and beyond who keep our country running.
Thank you all for your service, and I will keep fighting for your livelihoods in the face of attacks by the Trump Administration.
House Democrats are calling out the GOP.
We signed a discharge petition to force a vote on the Hands off Medicaid and SNAP Act to protect SNAP and preserve Medicaid for 5.5 million Americans.

Republicans say gun violence is purely a mental health issue, so why are they cutting school mental health programs?
We need to fight gun violence from all angles, including vital mental health support programs— this funding must be restored immediately.
