House Republicans just traded away healthcare, nutrition assistance for children, and daycare for millions of their constituents who rely on them, all to give billionaires yet another tax break.

Leader Jeffries is on the House floor right now, telling stories from Americans across the country. These are stories about what’s at stake as Republicans push devastating cuts to the programs families rely on.

The sun is coming up but it’s a very dark day in America.
After hours of backroom deals & arm-twisting, Republicans are about to pass a budget nobody wants except the billionaires & large corporations who will get even more tax breaks, while millions lose health coverage, food benefits, & daycare.
They’re keeping the floor open, twisting arms to jam through a bill that guts healthcare to pay for billionaire tax breaks.
This bill isn't a budget, it's a roadmap to Americans paying more for basic goods and dying without the healthcare they need.
Don’t mistake Republicans’ stalled vote tonight as a sign of moderation. It’s not being held up because they’re standing up for Medicaid or hardworking Americans. It’s because the far right wants even deeper cuts.
It’s a sad day to see the majority ram through something so cruel and destructive.
In addition to the hurt it will cause to low and middle income Americans, this bill blows up the deficit. And they’re in a big hurry to get it done before people realize just how bad this bill really is.
Republicans have decided that $5 trillion in tax breaks for the obscenely rich is worth kicking 17 million Americans off their healthcare.
After I announced I’m helping lead the No Masks for ICE Act yesterday, I took the first flight back to D.C. Why? Because the House is set to vote on the Republican Big Bad Bill.
If you have the power to detain someone, the public has the right to know who you are.
That’s how accountability works in a democracy.
That’s how law enforcement is supposed to work — at every level.
This bill is simple:
No masks during ICE raids (unless necessary for immediate safety)
Clear, visible identification: name + agency affiliation
In our communities, ICE agents have been conducting raids in plain clothes, with no badges, no names — and their faces covered.
That doesn’t build trust. It spreads fear.
🧵Today, I joined community leaders in Los Angeles to announce new federal legislation: the No Masks for ICE Act which stops ICE agents from hiding their faces and identities during enforcement.
I’m proud to be helping lead this legislation with Rep. @velazquez.house.gov.
The facts are clear: the GOP tax bill robs hardworking Americans of healthcare and nutrition assistance just so billionaires can get even richer.
Great to be at @aplahealth.bsky.social with @lalgbtcenter.bsky.social to celebrate a major win — nearly $20M in HIV prevention funds finally released after the Trump Admin’s reckless freeze.
This is what public pressure can do. We fought back — and we’re not done.
What happened at Stonewall is a reminder that LGBTQ equity won’t happen without commitment and bravery. I am proud to stand alongside the LGBTQ community in my district and across our nation.
We would not have Pride as we know it today without the LGBTQ elders and allies who stood strong at the Stonewall Inn more than 56 years ago today.
Disagree with his ideas? Say so. But threatening someone’s citizenship over their speech isn't just un-American — it’s unconstitutional.
This Administration's failure to condemn this vile attack and other forms of Anti-Muslim hate undermines the safety of our Muslim friends and neighbors. It is all too normalized in our civil discourse. This concerns me deeply, as both a defender of religious freedom and a Jewish woman.
Calling for Zohran Mamdani’s denaturalization isn’t just wrong — it’s blatant Islamophobia.
It’s also anti-democratic and a disgrace to the office of a Member of Congress.
