Thanks to Thurston County Commissioners Carolina Mejia and Wayne Fournier for stopping by!
We discussed the progress of the SW WA Regional Ag Business Park – which I was able to help fund – as well as ways to continue supporting local farming, public safety, and infrastructure needs.

I joined my bipartisan colleagues to introduce a bill to extend this vital program – since I refuse to let federal inaction undermine opportunities for our kids.
In rural communities like mine, blows to our timber economy have resulted in a loss of jobs, wealth, and people – and Secure Rural Schools payments have helped address budget shortfalls. ⬇️
I introduced a bipartisan bill to ensure lawmakers get the full picture – so we can effectively assess long-term implications, plan for our future, and avoid passing more debt to our children.
Debt servicing costs are a significant part of our worsening deficit.
But estimates of these costs aren't included in the budget analyses of bills considered by Congress. ⬇️
We need to empower our public utilities with the resources they need to keep clean drinking water flowing.
I toured the Raymond Wastewater Treatment Plant to hear from hardworking local folks about their needs and how I can best support them in Congress.
A healthy democracy also depends on free, fair, and secure elections – and confidence in those elections.
Learn more about my bipartisan bill to open up access to primary elections:
In #WA03, we value independence, know our beliefs don’t always fit in one box, & recognize there’s not a political party that cares about our community like we do.
It's why you shouldn't be denied the right to vote for your choice candidate just because you aren't affiliated with a national party.
Our nation already vastly underinvests in rural schools, trades courses, and kids who need extra support.
We need to give our teachers more latitude to do their jobs and ensure our children don't fall behind – not make their jobs harder by forcing schools to operate like garage sales.
Our laws should come from values and experiences of everyday Americans, so I introduced a resolution to build a more reflective pool of witnesses and make Congress more accessible.
Witnesses inform our committee work in Congress, yet it requires significant resources to travel from #WA03 to D.C.
Obstacles like finding childcare, time off work, or affordable travel make it harder for normal people to speak on the issues affecting their lives. ⬇️
Taking care of your health, newborn, or family when they’re most in need shouldn’t come at the cost of paying the bills.
With the PFML tax credit due to expire, my bipartisan bill will make it permanent and expand access for WA-based businesses and newer employees, so more folks can benefit.
So glad I could stop by the South Bend Boat Shop and see their work getting vessels back safely on the water.
I brought home more than $1 million to help acquire and invest in the shop – because once these community resources are gone, there's no bringing them back.
The deadline has passed to keep Secure Rural Schools payments on track, which #WA03 communities rely on.
If House Leadership doesn't act soon, our rural schools, public safety, & roads will suffer.
I brought together Skamania Co. leaders to share the dire stakes of not reauthorizing this program.
Your Zip Code shouldn't determine the quality of education you receive.
But for rural communities like mine, a lapse in Secure Rural Schools payments means our kids suffer.
Our timber communities were promised these funds to backfill revenue we're prevented from generating in our national forests.
Our trades educators are stewarding skills in our next generation and mobilizing them into a strong economy.
Our national strength comes from young people who know how to build and repair the things we rely on.
If you need help with a federal agency like the IRS, VA, or Social Security Administration, my team will be in Cathlamet this Wednesday.
It's part of my commitment to making sure every community across #WA03 can access our services!
Happy National Ag Day! 🚜
Producers across #WA03 make it possible for us to have healthy food on the table and resilient rural economies.
I'm fighting to protect farmers' ability to fix their own tractors, pass down their farms, and not get squeezed out by foreign land ownership.
Sea lions are swimming upriver and chunking up on salmon our communities rely on – it's no joke.
I'm looking for ways to support proactive removal efforts, which prevent worsening cycles of recruitment that lead to depleted fish supplies.
Appreciate the great questions at Friday’s town hall!
