When I was in Minnesota, community leaders said over and over again that peaceful protest was key. They had been providing constitutional observer training for nearly a year before thousands of ICE agents were sent to Minneapolis. Breaking into the federal building isn’t peaceful protesting.

If you’re in the PNW and wondering what YOU can do to help: Check out Aid NW. These wonderful people are stationed outside the Tacoma ICE facility and ready to provide released detainees with basic essentials and free assistance reconnecting with loved ones.
I just met with four of my constituents who are being held at the Tacoma ICE facility. They are not “the worst of the worst”. I will be following up with lawyers and maintaining direct contact so that they do not get lost in our broken immigration system.

I joined the Monopoly Busters Caucus tonight to talk about our state's win that blocked the Kroger-Albertsons merger when I was Attorney General.
I appreciate the focus on affordability from our members of Congress. Proud to name Congresswoman Jayapal Washingtonian of the Day.
During such dark times, I am so happy to share some good news! Eugene’s very own 17-year-old Maria Telesheva was featured on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts. She is amazing with the accordion, check it out below👇

And finally, local officers have immunity that is qualified in that there are qualifications for the presumption of immunity. The administration has been clear that it doesn’t exist for ICE. It’s critical to recognize those differences in what is happening now. www.theiacp.org/news/officia...
2/ They operate under a different set of standards, there are investigations with the presumption of neutrality at the outset. There are basic laws and constitutional rights that are expected to be respected. There are training and hiring standards that are significantly higher than with ICE.
1/ As someone who is not a member of law enforcement but has heard from many members of law enforcement, I think it is essential to differentiate between what is happening with ICE and how local police and sherrifs are trained to operate.

Statement from the family of Alex Pretti:
I am horrified that ICE has murdered another person in Minneapolis. ICE and CPB agents are not above the rule of law. This administration is gaslighting the country and ruining public trust by telling people what they see isn't true. I urge the Senate to do the right thing and block DHS funding NOW.
Roe v. Wade safeguarded the fundamental freedom to bodily autonomy. On what should have been its 53rd anniversary, the fight to protect our rights isn't over. I stand with the @demwomencaucus.bsky.social and @reprocaucus.bsky.social y.social to protect reproductive rights nationwide.
We swore an oath to defend the very Constitutional rights that have been aggressively violated by Kristi Noem’s DHS. I will not send a single cent to ICE so long as they cannot abide by the clear principles this country has followed since 1791. Today, I am voting NO.
It's way past time to reverse this ruling, and I will continue to support policies that root out corruption and dark money. We must remain accountable to ALL voters and NOT donors.
1/ Citizens United kickstarted the downfall of our democracy 16 years ago.
Now, unlimited and undisclosed outside spending has reshaped political priorities, bought favors and taken over tv ads.
Oregon families are spending $1,791 more on average this year due to Trump’s reckless policymaking.
Dr. King believed in the power of solidarity to move our country forward. As we face incredibly challenging times, we are reminded that the time is always right to do what is right. We must come together to protect one another, speak up for what’s right and push for an America that works for us all.
This is no longer about enforcing immigration law at all.
I cannot fund an agency that has repeatedly abused its authority, violated due process and is operating in such a provocative manner under this administration.
Minnesota is not standing down and we are here to stand with them. Watch NOW: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfVj...

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
