I was delighted to join Seattle’s inaugural Indian Film Festival at the Museum of Pop Culture! Representation matters — on screen, in books, in leadership roles, and in government. This was a fantastic event to build more awareness of the creativity and contributions of Indian diaspora artists!
This is a dangerous and deeply disappointing capitulation from Columbia University. If other universities follow suit, this chilling attack on free speech will only worsen. The effects on education will be severe. This is exactly how democracies unravel. www.politico.com/news/2025/03...
ICYMI: The Clean Air Act lets EPA regulate things like power plants to keep the air we breathe clean. Trump, Elon, and their billionaire buddies want to dismantle the EPA and let Big Oil, Big Gas, and Big Coal poison our air. www.politico.com/news/2025/02...
As we work to fight back against the Trump administration, it is important to remember our struggles are all intertwined. This past week, I organized a Immigrant Labor Roundtable with local leaders to strategize and chart our path forward under this administration.
This week, I met with doctors and researchers at Fred Hutch to discuss their critical work to prevent, treat, and find cures for cancer. Trump and Musk’s cuts to the NIH will devastate their labs and stop lifesaving research in its tracks. We cannot let that happen.
Trump and Elon are now going after the Department of Education. Why? Because they don’t care about public schools. They don’t care that an American education is literally the best path toward economic opportunity for our children.
Trump and Musk have taken a chainsaw to the federal workforce — causing uncertainty and financial ruin for thousands of workers. Real people, working to make our country better. These firings are baseless, and we will fight back.
Trump and Musk are doing everything they can — legal or not — to dismantle our government and the programs that people rely on like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Why? All to pass a tax cut for the richest billionaires in this country.
Trump’s Department of Homeland Security is already out of control, arresting US Citizens & violating our civil rights. Now he fired almost the entire civil rights division of the agency — putting Americans' most important protections even more at risk. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/21/u...
Donald Trump is plotting to give gun rights back to people who have been convicted of felonies or domestic violence.   That’s the opposite of making America safer. What happened to Republicans being the “law and order” party? www.nytimes.com/2025/03/19/u...
This week, I was back in Seattle and heard from my constituents about how Trump is making them feel — outraged, horrified, and ready to fight. Here are my weekly 3 bad things and 3 good things to help you stay informed and engaged in this moment!
So Trump and Elon are now requiring seniors to go in-person for Social Security identity checks. ...but they’re also closing dozens of field offices across the country. Here’s the bottom line: they’re cutting Social Security. www.newsweek.com/social-secur...
