- Lower health care costs
- Pay our service members
- Fund SNAP, WIC, and Head Start
- End the shutdown
But Republicans think that’s ridiculous and are refusing to negotiate. Does that list seem ridiculous to you?

The lawyers and intelligence professionals didn't even show up to the House Armed Services Committee briefing today on the U.S strikes on Venezuela. I didn't hear anything to prove otherwise – these strikes are illegal. They are murder. And they should stop immediately.
Over 130 Head Start programs serving about 60,000 children will close on November 1st because of insufficient funding.
Children will lose access to care, early learning, nutrition, and stability – all because Republicans in Congress are too proud to negotiate with Democrats.
A timely reminder that every dollar in SNAP benefits spent generates about $1.50 in economic activity.
So when Trump fails to use USDA’s contingency dollars to keep SNAP benefits going, 40 million Americans will go hungry AND our economy will lose out on billions in activity.

We don’t know if Donald Trump promised anything to his billionaire buddy in exchange for this donation and it’s $6.37 BILLION short of what we actually need to pay our service members.

I am sickened by the images of the RSF seizing El Fasher in Sudan. The UAE needs to cease their support NOW. The Trump Administration needs to invest in a real peace process that is not rigged to benefit external backers of this horrific war.
If 40 million people go hungry, that’s because it’s Donald Trump’s choice.
The USDA can and should use contingency reserve dollars and all legal authority to fund SNAP during this government shutdown. If they don’t, that’s on Trump.
Almost 400,000 people in San Diego County alone receive Cal-Fresh (aka SNAP) benefits every month to afford food. Now, because Republicans in Congress are refusing to reopen the government, November benefits will likely be delayed.

I met with San Diego County superintendents and administrators to talk about how federal immigration enforcement near schools is hurting students’ mental health and academic performance and putting enormous pressure on families, teachers, and staff. ICE is making us less safe.
