I am sickened by what we’re seeing in Gaza right now. The IDF has blocked aid while shooting people waiting in food lines for what little aid is actually coming from the sham Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. Israel needs to lift its blockade and the U.S. needs to stop sending bombs.
They lied to us. This Administration isn’t going after criminals – 72% of the people arrested by ICE in San Diego had zero criminal charges or convictions. This is the fundamentally wrong approach for people who are contributing members of our community.
Trump’s deployment of active duty Marines to Los Angeles was always unnecessary, escalatory, and an abuse of power. I’m glad they’re finally returning home and I hope they’re never treated like political tools again.
Final tally of the 940-page bill: $3.4 TRILLION added to the deficit (thanks to huge tax breaks for billionaires and corporations) and 10 million people kicked off their health insurance.
Fiscally AND morally irresponsible.

Trump just agreed to give ICE access to the personal data of Medicaid enrollees (almost all of whom are U.S. citizens).
No one is safer because of this – and this raises serious privacy and due process concerns and could scare people away from getting health care when they need it.
We have a child care crisis: costs are WAY too high, there aren’t enough open slots, and providers can barely make ends meet.
But we can solve this!
My bill, the LEGACY Act, would raise nearly $400 million/year for child care by taxing trust fund kids.

I just went to Otay Mesa to get answers on the immigration detention happening there. While I was satisfied with their transparency, that doesn't mean what they're doing is making us safer, and I will keep showing up to protect everyone’s legal, civil, and human rights.
I had so much fun hanging out with these kids and reading outdoors as part of the Trail Tykes program at the Mission Trails Regional Park.

Every summer, San Diego Public Libraries partners with San Diego Unified to distribute free lunches to kids – and provide fun events and activities! So proud to support this initiative to feed and strengthen our community.
Two kids recently fell out of windows and died at Liberty Military Housing. Today, their CEO brazenly told me that he has “zero accountability.” That’s going to change – I’m immediately looking into ways to compel stronger safety standards and prevent future tragedies like these.
