Don’t have a passport? Forgot to renew it? Under Trump’s new executive order, you and about half of all U.S. adults without a valid passport might be barred from voting. Trump is attacking our election system and making it harder for eligible citizens to vote. This is voter suppression.
Secretary Pete Hegseth, the Situation Room exists for a reason. This is an unbelievable level of incompetence and disregard for our service members whose lives are on the line if classified attack plans are exposed. It’s time to take accountability.
I had so much fun meeting folks at the Rolando Street Fair and presenting a certificate to Greg Jones, who earned the Doris Perry Community Service Award. Creating and being in community has never been more important. Thank you, Greg, for everything you do!
I was honored to speak at the 7th annual FANCY Teen Girls Scholarship Awards luncheon organized by DETOUR, a mentoring program for teen girls of color. As I told these young women, they have so much to offer the world. I can’t wait to see the big things they accomplish!
Secretary Hegseth lied. He said again and again that he didn't reveal any classified information – but any information anticipating the timing of an attack is classified. It's not enough for Secretary Hegseth to resign. President Trump should fire him.
@scrippsocean.bsky.social's research helps protect our national security, economy, and human health and fight the climate crisis. But now, NIH and NSF grants have been cut off. Grad students are applying for jobs abroad. We are losing the future of science and innovation.
USD students (and all students!) have worked SO hard to get where they are. Trump’s move to dismantle the Department of Ed – and end Pell Grants and federal student loans – could take away their chance to earn a degree and their hopes for a better future.
Cuts to Medi-Cal (AKA Medicaid) would be devastating. 1 in 6 people in San Diego County, including almost 300,000 children, rely on it for health care coverage. Republicans want to sacrifice health care for real people to fund tax cuts for the rich.
Delilah is one of 5 million kids who rely on Medi-Cal in California. She receives critical coverage for numerous medical appointments, treatments, and support coordinating between her specialists and her school. Medi-Cal is a lifeline. I will never stop fighting to save it.
So great to meet with SEIU-UHW to hear firsthand how Republicans’ proposed Medicaid cuts would hurt their ability to care for patients. These cuts would prevent life-saving medical care and put even more strain on providers. I’m fighting every day to stop this.
I joined the Rolando Community Council meeting to share an update on what I’m doing in Congress to push back against Trump and Republicans’ attacks on our kids, health care, and democracy. Thank you for showing up, sharing your stories, and joining me in this fight.
