The impacts of President Trump’s illegal order to freeze all federal funding are comprehensive—missed payrolls for workers, police and fire layoffs, lost access to nutritious meals for children, women, and seniors. This isn’t about saving money, or cutting programs. It's cruelty.
This #InternationalHolocaustRemembranceDay marks 80 years since the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp. We must never forget this dark moment in Polish and world history, and the millions brutally murdered by the Nazi regime. #NeverForget
Visited the 983rd Engineer Battalion with USAR Chief Lt. Gen. Robert Harter, Brig. Gen. Louis Mitchell, and Lt. Col. Damon Bullock. Headquartered in NW Ohio since 1947, we stood up their new Reserve Center on Eber Road in 1996 where they uphold a tradition of service and engineering excellence.
It was a pleasure to welcome visitors from Oak Harbor, Ohio to the Capitol this week. I am glad they were able to visit, enjoy some of the inaugural festivities, and receive a tour of the Capitol Building. I am always happy to see friendly faces from back home in NW Ohio.
The recent Pardon of violent felons who attacked our Capitol and assaulted law enforcement officers, injuring 174, were a sacrilege against our Republic and our Constitution. Americans are rightly outraged. It is an affront on decency and an attack on the rule of law.
I can hear the cheers rising in Toledo and Perrysburg, Ohio — the 100 year legacy home of Jeep. The heartbeat of auto manufacturing in America runs through our region of NW Ohio in the industrial Midwest — today's announcement means good paying jobs for generations to come.
The first legislation I introduced this year, was the bipartisan Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Act of 2025, alongside my Congressional Great Lakes Task Force Co-Chairs, Rep. Dave Joyce, Rep. Debbie Dingell, and Rep. Bill Huizenga. Fresh water is life, and we must protect our Great Lakes.
Delaying bipartisan appropriated and awarded funds is concerning. From RAISE grants in Erie County and Toledo, to rail safety in Defiance, transformational investments in NW Ohio are critical to our transportation infrastructure. Progress requires action not delay.
Let me take you behind the scenes of the Presidential Inauguration and the peaceful transfer of power today in the Capitol Rotunda. As this new administration begins, I stand ready to work together to find the Big Middle and make life better for all those I represent in NW Ohio.
Today as we celebrate #MartinLutherKingJrDay let us remember his wise words, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
Honored to receive OACBHA President’s Award for my work to support mental health initiatives in NW Ohio and across our Buckeye State. By opening new facilities like Dani’s Place and Kaptur-Rogowski House we focus on comprehensive care and effective long term in-person treatment.
Still need to be accepted, but need a nomination for consideration.
Last night, I announced our district’s Nominees to the United States Military Service Academies. So proud of these fine young men and women from Ohio’s 9th District who are committed to serving our nation steadfastly in the name of Liberty.
Today, I released the following statement upon the news that a hostage release and ceasefire agreement has been agreed to between Israel and Hamas.
Retired Army Colonel Greg Gadson is an American hero. From humble beginnings, to the football fields of West Point, combat in Iraq, and his intrepid mission inspiring others after losing both legs in a roadside bomb attack, his life is an inspiration to us all.
In a time of severe partisanship 327 House Members and 76 Senators voted to make the Social Security Fairness Act law. This bipartisan effort found the Big Middle to benefit the American people, culminating a 40 year struggle to right the wrongs that harmed many public employees.
The Children's Theatre Workshop Toledo has received $15,000 in support from the National Endowment for the Arts for its apprenticeship program. This effort hires 16-22 year olds to provide early career training alongside CTW staff in technical theatre, costuming, and education.

There are limits to human habitation even on Planet Earth. You can find ways to help beleaguered residents and firefighters from the Palisades region here while we do everything in our power in Congress to support their recovery. 5/6
As our nation unites to rescue, recover, and rebuild from this devastation, keen attention must be directed to sophisticated land, water, and forest planning to minimize dangers to people and the places in which they live. 4/6
