Everyone should be able to access safe drinking water. Today we are one step closer to that goal with proposed improvements to the Lead and Copper Rule to reduce lead in drinking water. I will continue to work with the EPA to champion efforts to improve our drinking water quality.

As a lifelong Ohioan and also a Michigan alumna, I’m not picking favorites today. If I have a wish, it’s for a safe and competitive matchup worthy of this legendary 126 year rivalry.
As America demonstrates that an all of the above energy strategy works, we produced more oil than ever. Investing in renewables and bringing new energy industry jobs to our region of northern Ohio—we can be energy independent and continue to create climate solutions of tomorrow.
The United States is producing more crude oil than at any time in history: 13.2 million barrels per day.
It was 10.9 the week Biden took office.

Wishing everyone celebrating across NW Ohio a Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃
I hope that these negotiations will continue and that a lasting peace can take hold, to assure the long delayed dream of a 2-State solution assuring homelands for both Israeli and Palestinian people. 5/5
Let us hope that peace and justice will soon prevail as hostages are released, medical, and humanitarian assistance can be provided to the suffering and wounded. 4/5
The negotiations for deescalating this bitter conflict have been led by Qatar, Hamas, and Israel, in consultation with Arab nations in the region including Egypt, Jordan, and in consultation with high level representatives of the US National Security Council. 3/5
Hamas invaded Israel resulting in civilians deaths of over 1,400 Israeli men, women, and children, with more than 240 taken hostage—this was followed by Israel’s retaliation killing more than 12,000 Palestinians in Gaza to date—many of them women and children. 2/5
🧵Tonight, the entire world applauds confirmation of news reports indicating approval of a plan for a “4-day pause” in fighting in the barbaric war being fought since Oct. 7 between Hamas and Israel. 1/5
May her spirit and memory comfort her husband, her family, staff, and all the millions of people the Carter family touched with healing and inspiration. Rest in peace Rosalynn. 5/5
She was a lady in every sense of the word—gracious, erudite, persuasive. She was faith-filled, indefatigable, committed, and truly a credit to our great nation. 4/5
She tried to show struggling families at home and abroad how to be more self-sufficient. As a White House policy staffer at the time, I had the privilege of working with her as an ally in neighborhood revitalization in some of the most forgotten corners of America. 3/5
As First Lady, she perseveringly and with her matter-of-fact manner elevated the plight of mental illness to national attention—As a farm wife, the footage of her carrying her sewing machine into the White House stirred surprise and even criticism in many privileged quarters. 2/5
🧵Rosalynn Carter—beloved spouse of President Jimmy Carter and mother to their family and our nation—has blessed our Republic for over 3/4 of a century. Her perpetual kindness, wisdom, faithfulness to family, community, and country are legendary. Her patriotism had no bounds. 1/5
Joined the Williams County Township Association Annual meeting in Edgerton. The homemade food was a true taste of NW Ohio. Thank you for the warm welcome, hospitality, and great conversations about important issues facing townships across the County and our region.
Congrats to the Toledo Rockets on a big win over BGSU Football earlier this week! It’s heartwarming to see healthy competition amongst schools from our region. I look forward to Toledo Football continuing their historic season and finishing in style. #TeamToledo

Honored to be with the United States Marine Corps to celebrate its 248th birthday earlier this week. We spoke about what support our brave men and women in the Marines need from Congress and reminisced a bit about my own family’s service in the Corps.
Last night House Democrats found the “Big Middle” and voted to keep our government open through the holidays—this means funding to pay our troops and secure our border, to heat homes for those who can’t afford it, and feed those who need help putting food on the table.
If passed into law the House GOP’s funding bill for Labor, Health, Human Services and Education would:
⚪Kick 659,000 students off federal work study
⚪Kick 224,000 teachers out of classrooms
⚪Kick 420,000 out of apprenticeship programs
The far RIGHT is beyond WRONG on our economy
