Education is an important tool to ensure young men in our communities are raised as allies—this funding for the NW Ohio YWCA will help build awareness of threats to women including sexual assault, stalking, sex trafficking, domestic and dating violence.
Joined Dep. Sec. Xochitl Torres Small, Mayor Kapszukiewicz and members of Toledo Council to announce more than $6 Million in funding from USDA to plant more than 10,000 new trees. This will bring shade to those who need it and breathe new life into Toledo and our communities for generations to come.
Hosted national, regional, and local transit, labor, and civic leaders to discuss the future of rail in Northern Ohio and our Great Lakes Region. Thanks to CEO of Amtrak Stephen Gardner, Federal Railroad Administration Administrator Amit Bose and other leaders who came to NW OH for this roundtable.
Honored to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the non-partisan Congressional Management Foundation. CMF works to build trust and effectiveness in Congress—strengthening connections between us and the People we serve—grateful to be recognized as a partner in that mission.
Thankful to be honored by the U.S. Capitol Historical Society alongside Senator Chuck Grassley last night, and to take part in a panel discussion moderated by Jane Campbell with House Freshman Class Presidents Congressman Robert Garcia and Congressman Russell Fry. Onward!
Without the #ChildTaxCredit: ❌Child poverty more than doubled from 2021 to 2022 ❌Taxes for families of 60 million+ kids went up ❌5 million American kids pushed into poverty This critical lifeline should've never expired—let's put America's kids first & make the CTC permanent.
Visited the National Museum of the Great Lakes located next to the new MetroPark along Toledo’s East Side Maumee riverbank this weekend. You can feel the neighborhood's momentum! Wonderful guests and visitors including precious toddler Elijah and his caring mother.
Glad to join so many community leaders, including Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz, Kid Mayor Gabrielle Mukiira, members of City Council and so many Toledoans to break ground on the new Wayman D. Palmer YMCA—creating a new modern space for families and children to discover endless possibilities.
Today we remember 2,977 souls who lost their lives, and 6,000 wounded 22 years ago on September 11th, 2001. Our nation continues to pay tribute to the selflessness, bravery, and heroism of first responders on that day, and grieve for those lost. We will #NeverForget.
Proud to help welcome Senator Sherrod Brown to Toledo for his 6th Annual Ohio Women's Leadership Summit. Honored to present the Canary Award given annually since 2010 to honor women led organizations dedicated to the dignity of work, uplifting working families in our Ohio communities.
Social Security and Medicare are fundamental to our seniors so they know they will enjoy a safe and secure retirement. Rest assured—I will NEVER allow either to be put on the chopping block. Americans work hard for their earned benefits, and I will ALWAYS fight to protect them.
Fulton County is home to a truly world-class fair. I enjoyed meeting with young people in 4H and hearing from local farmers about their priorities as we head into a new Farm Bill. Thank You Fulton County for the warm welcome.
By establishing this new, modern vocational education program at Toledo Technology Academy of Engineering, we will unlock the boundless potential for our students who are seeking to enter the growing and evolving next-generation automotive industry.
Investing in our students is paramount in everything we do. By thinking beyond the needs of the moment and looking strategically toward what awaits us we are prepared for the days that will come.
