@markwarner.bsky.social and I are keeping Cerina and Justin Fairfax’s family—especially their 2 children—in our prayers as we all process this shocking and horrifying news. We urge any Virginians impacted by domestic violence to call the police or the National Domestic Violence Hotline for support.
Today, USS Gerald R. Ford broke the record for the longest modern carrier deployment. Our sailors should be home with their families, not sent around the world by a President who acts like the military is his palace guard. I’m doing all I can to end the war against Iran.

It’s been 47 days since Trump attacked Iran. Since then, servicemembers have died, thousands of civilians have died, and Americans are struggling with rising gas prices. My colleagues and I are forcing a vote to bring an end to the chaos.

I’m excited to see more love for Virginia’s incredible Main Streets! Main Street America’s recognition of Downtown Wytheville as a 2026 Great American Main Street Award winner is well-earned.

Happy Vaisakhi to all celebrating in Virginia and across the world! May today bring prosperity and joy to all.
Tonight, the Jewish community marks Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. I am reflecting on the resilience of the Jewish people who had the courage to continue practicing their faith in the face of evil. We all must continue working to prevent antisemitism at home and abroad.
On National Submarine Day, we honor the servicemembers beneath the waves who keep us safe and the shipbuilders who make their work possible. I am grateful for VA’s leadership building our Navy’s submarines and will always support our undersea capabilities. Y’all make VA proud!
58 years ago today, President Johnson signed the Fair Housing Act into law. As a former fair housing attorney, I’m committed to building on that progress by fighting to make sure everyone, including veterans and low-income families, is protected against housing discrimination.
On World Parkinson’s Day, I’m reflecting on the struggles of individuals and families who’ve grappled with a diagnosis. I’m glad a bill I cosponsored to create and update a national plan to address Parkinson’s and related conditions is now law. Let's end Parkinson’s for good.
Trump’s war of choice and mishandling of the economy are coming to a head—and American families are paying the price. Trump needs to get a handle on rising inflation.
Good news! While it’s no secret that Virginia is full of beautiful communities, I’m excited that Fredericksburg’s Caroline Street was recently voted “Best Main Street in the South.” This win is well-deserved.

NATO is an indispensable force for democracy and peace that plays a key role in keeping America safe. Trump may continue to throw an anti-NATO temper tantrum, but his hands are tied—because of my legislation, he cannot unilaterally withdraw from it.

Yesterday, I joined local partners to celebrate a new project in Floyd to extend public utilities to an undeveloped area, which will be used for affordable workforce housing. I’m glad to have helped secure $1.5 million in funding to help make this project possible.
I was thrilled to be in Hillsville yesterday to tour the Carroll Wellness Center and learn about how $1 million in federal funding I helped secure will support important renovations to the center and increase its ability to provide care to those in the region.
I had a great time breaking ground on Open Door Community’s Monroe North housing development today. I was glad to secure $1.5 million in funding for this project. As a former fair housing attorney, I’m excited about how this will provide people in Wytheville a safe place to call home.
I had a great tour of Emory & Henry University School of Health Sciences and an informative discussion with students, staff, and faculty. I enjoyed learning more about how the school is working to boost the health care workforce and encourage students to stay in SWVA.
Yesterday, I met with local leaders and partners in Damascus to get an update on the restoration of the Creeper Trail. I was proud to help secure over $240 million in funding to rebuild the trail after Hurricane Helene. Glad we are making progress to fully reopen this critical economic engine!
Miners risk their health to power our communities. I was glad to host an event in St. Paul yesterday with miners, retirees, and other stakeholders to discuss how to improve access to benefits and expand treatment for miners with black lung disease.
Gas prices keep rising with no signs of stopping. How much more financial pain is Trump going to force on working families because of his war of choice?
