When a gun is present in a domestic violence situation, the risk of homicide increases by 500 percent. Protecting our families means keeping guns away from abusive partners. I’m fighting for commonsense gun reform to save lives.
Tomorrow, we wear orange in honor of Hadiya Pendleton and gun violence victims on National Gun Violence Awareness Day. Gun violence is preventable, not an unavoidable fact of life. Wear orange and speak out to end gun violence. #WearOrange
Trump’s relentless attacks on Black voting rights are a threat to our democracy. I am proud to stand with the @cbc.house.gov and the NAACP because fair representation is a right, not a choice. I’m going to keep fighting like hell to protect our power and our voice.
4.6 million children live in a home with an unsecured gun, drastically increasing the chance of unintentionally shooting themselves or someone else. These tragedies are preventable. Congress needs to pass my safe storage law to protect our kids and keep our homes safe.
Trump’s war with Iran shows he’s ignoring the pain millions of Americans feel. Instead of lowering costs or fixing healthcare, he is dragging out a conflict that imperils our economic stability at home. It’s gross negligence, plain and simple.
The Party of Grift is stealing food off the table of hungry families and attacking our healthcare, leaving millions of hardworking Americans behind. @housedemocrats.bsky.social and I are fighting like hell to lower healthcare costs and restore dignified access to food.
In 2020, Gun violence became the leading cause of death for children and teens in the US. It’s been the leading cause of death for Black kids since 2006. Every single day, a gun kills 12 of our children. We cannot look away while this public health crisis is stealing our future.
77% of Americans are justifiably furious that gas and grocery prices are skyrocketing because of Trump’s illegal war. This administration is squeezing families with no end in sight, and House Republicans are actively letting it happen. It has to stop.
Let's be clear: the House Republican spending package forces families to pay the price for their corruption. They are driving up your housing and utility costs while bankrolling vanity projects for political grifters. I will continue to fight like hell against it.
Hadiya Pendleton should be turning 29 today. She should be celebrating with her family, but gun violence stole her future. She was shot & killed in a Chicago park, just a few months before I was sworn in. I’m still fighting to end gun violence—for Hadiya & every child who should be safe at a park.
This month marks the start of Wear Orange, a movement in honor of Hadiya Pendleton whose bright life was cut short by gun violence. As we honor all victims and survivors of gun violence, we’re reminded of the urgent action needed to end this crisis.
No parent should have to worry about putting food on the table, but the Republican spending package cuts vital WIC food assistance by $200 million. We need federal investments that lift our neighbors up in times of need, not extreme cuts that take food away from infants.
Every American deserves to live authentically and safely. My work with the @equalitycaucus.bsky.social isn’t just about celebration; it’s about using my voice and my vote in Congress to fight back and protect LGBTQI+ community.
The House Republican spending package is a disaster: ❎Cuts affordable housing by 60% ❎Slashes energy programs by 40% ❎Cuts WIC food relief by $200M All while funding Trump's $1.8B political slush fund. The President of Grift is leaving behind millions of hardworking Americans.
Families are worried about affording groceries, rent, healthcare, and gas. Trump’s chosen war with Iran is making costs even higher. But House Republicans are still focused on Trump’s agenda and protecting billionaires instead of helping hardworking Americans.
Last week, I voted to pass the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, a bipartisan bill that will bring housing costs down and expand pathways to homeownership for working families. All families should have a fair shot at owning a place called home.
