I stood up for Rep. McBride and trans rights during this exchange with Rep. Mace at Georgetown today. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
Private health insurance expenses increased 61.6% per person between 2008 and 2022, more than 20% faster than expenses for Medicare enrollees. If we're going to make cuts, let's eliminate the corporate middleman and make #MedicareForAll
A billion dollars can’t win an election. A platform to unrig our elections so billionaires don’t dominate our democracy can win. ✅ Ban PAC money ✅ End Citizens United ✅ No corporate money for the DNC
Public education isn't an expenditure; it's an investment, averaging a $10 return for every dollar spent, especially early childhood programs like Head Start. We need more opportunities that give people a shot at the American Dream, not less.
$4.5 billion—that's how much money outside groups spent to influence the 2024 election. I've never taken a dime of lobbyist or PAC money. I co-founded the No PAC caucus, and I'm going to keep fighting to ban all PAC and lobbyist money from Congress.
Want to cut the federal budget? Let's start with our nearly $1 trillion defense budget, which is loaded with wasteful spending that benefits legacy defense contractors. $4,361 for a half-inch metal pin doesn’t make America safe.
Abortion legislation should NOT be left to states. AZ’s Supreme Court just showed us why Trump is so wrong, rolling back women’s rights to 1856 — 54 years before they won the right to vote.
We have a housing affordability crisis. Discussed the need for rent caps, building more affordable housing, and stopping Wall Street from buying homes w/  Rep. Pramila Jayapal and Senator Bernie Sanders. Jane Sanders convened an extraordinary gathering of experts and activists.
It was Bernie Sanders and the Senate HELP Committee' investigation into Big Pharma's deadly price gouging that led to AstraZeneca's $35 inhaler cap. Other companies must follow.
Thousands will soon be building good-paying careers in renewable energy installation, home efficiency projects, ecosystem restoration, and more. This wouldn't have happened without the moral clarity and leadership of young people and climate activists. Now, let's expand it! grist.org/politics/job...
Reagan, Bush, + Trump's tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy produced massive wealth inequality and record national debt. Biden's budget is the investment this country needs in the middle and working classes.
Big money = bad policy. Period. Congress needs to strike at the root and pass my comprehensive anti-corruption plan: ✅ Ban all PAC/lobbyist money from Congress ✅ Ban Congress members from trading stocks ✅ Enact term limits for Congress and SCOTUS ✅ Ban Congress members from ever becoming lobbyists
What is needed today is a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and release of all hostages, not a $17 billion blank check to the extreme right wing government in Israel with zero humanitarian assistance. That’s why I voted NO on the aid package tonight.
As storms strengthen due to climate change and atmospheric rivers drench our communities, I'm fighting for a Green New Deal for Health w/ Sen. Ed Markey to ensure hazard pay for first responders and protect our critical medical facilities so people can access care when they need it the most.
In a historic first, Medicare began negotiations today on the top 10 most expensive and widely used prescription drugs. Currently 1 in 5 adults over 65 ration medication in the US due to cost. This is a huge step in bringing those prices down so people can afford the medications they need.
The Democrats can be the party of the working and middle class. We're fighting to revitalize manufacturing, Medicare For All, $10 a day child care, + more. But to deliver, we need to shed our addiction to lobbyists and PAC money. I've never taken a dime.
DEI programs didn't cause Boeing's failure, just like 'wokeness' didn't cause Silicon Valley Bank's collapse last year. The answer you're looking for is the thousands of corporate lobbyists teeming through Congress every day to help deregulate safety standards on behalf of ultra-rich shareholders.
Boeing's safety failure is a monumental failure of the federal government. We can't let corporate lobbyists run the show in Washington. That's why I've never taken lobbyist or PAC money. And it's why I have a bill to ban ALL lobbying & PAC money.
