But let’s be clear about what is happening. This move by the President is a distraction from Republicans taking away food from hungry kids and seniors and health care from hundreds of thousands of Nevadans and millions of Americans so they can give the wealthiest Americans massive tax breaks.
What is happening in this country is unprecedented and incredibly disturbing. Deploying the CA National Guard and Marines without consulting the state’s governor is a clear and dangerous abuse of power. Anyone breaking the law, assaulting police, or perpetrating violence should be held accountable.
For decades, federal law has ensured that proceeds from public land sales in southern Nevada stay in Nevada to invest in our water infrastructure, schools, and parks. This proposal would change that.
I worked with House Republicans to stop a proposal that would’ve sold off Nevada’s lands to pay for billionaire tax breaks. It looks like Senate Republicans are trying to put it back in their budget bill.
62 years ago today, the Equal Pay Act was signed into law. But women STILL earn only 84 cents on the dollar compared to men. Women deserve equal pay for equal work. It’s time to close the wage gap once and for all.
3/ Just a reminder: this bill will give the majority of tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans, take health care away from hundreds of thousands of Nevadans — including our most vulnerable, and cut food assistance for hungry kids and seniors.
2/ It’s bizarre. He is willing to sell off public lands in Nevada, without consultation from Clark County and other Nevada elected officials, so he can earn brownie points with his Republican leadership to help pass this “Big Bullshit Bill.”
It was so great to meet my Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada Mini-Me, Tejasvi! She told me she loves math, tennis, and Indian classical dance. She dreams of becoming a pediatrician when she grows up.
It’s National Trails Day! Remember to get outdoors and enjoy our public lands, like the 26 numbered hikes and trails at Red Rock Canyon. 🥾 Just make sure to stay hydrated and get an early start to stay ahead of the summer heat. ☀️
60 years ago, Griswold v. Connecticut established a constitutional right to contraception . But with the overturning #Roe and decades of precedent, we know how quickly these rights can be taken away. I'm fighting for women to have the right and freedom to make decisions about their own bodies.
Senate Republicans have put the Utah water grab proposal back on the table after I worked with Republicans to stop it in the House. I’m ready to work with my colleagues in both the House and the Senate to protect our water and stop this dangerous proposal from coming back.
Southern Nevada is all too familiar with the pain of gun violence. We need to continue working to stop this epidemic and build on our progress to save lives and keep families safe. This National Gun Violence Awareness Day, I #WearOrange in honor of all the victims and survivors of gun violence.
81 years ago today, the Allies landed in Normandy and their courage paved the way for freedom around the world. As we recognize the bravery and sacrifice of the Allied soldiers on D-Day, we must continue to fight for freedoms today around the world.
