The Trump administration tried to fire civil rights staff, got blocked, then paid them to sit at home for nine months. Cost: up to $38 million. No greater “efficiencies” achieved, just wasted taxpayer money and weaker protections for kids. Total and complete incompetence.
Trump lies so often about so many things, both large and small, including his bad poll numbers, that he’s trained people to doubt everything. Facts blur, trust collapses. You can call it his liar’s dividend. It’s how accountability disappears. We the people must keep fighting back.
This is disgraceful stuff from Mike Johnson. He feeds Trump’s conspiracy machine with utter nonsense. He knows late-counted mail and provisional ballots routinely come in last and often lean Democratic. But telling the truth doesn’t serve his dear leader.
Mike Johnson on Trump calling for Rs to "nationalize" elections: "We had 3 Republicans who were ahead on election day in last cycle & every time a new tranche of ballots came in they just magically whittled away until their leads were lost. It looks on its face to be fraudulent. Can I prove it? No"
Trump and Washington Republicans are pouring roughly $30 billion in extra funding into ICE. That same money could extend ACA tax credits and keep millions of Americans insured. They chose deportation raids over doctor visits. Cruelty over care. It’s reprehensible. #FundHealthCareOverICE
America is a nation of laws. And a nation of immigrants. We don’t need chaos. We need competence. Stop giving ICE a blank check. Demand accountability.
A constituent of mine had a theory this past weekend about why Trump is causing so much chaos. I’m not a doctor, but I think his diagnosis is strong!

After firing staff and driving donors and performers out, he’s calling it “renovation.” It’s cultural vandalism and a taxpayer-funded cover-up for his own arrogance and mismanagement.
Right now, Trump is “only” talking. But what he’s talking about matters. Article I, Section 4 of the Constitution gives states—not presidents or parties—control over elections.

A top U.A.E. royal secretly bought nearly half of Trump’s crypto company. Months later, the U.A.E. was approved to receive sensitive U.S. AI chips. Trump’s family reportedly pocketed close to $200 million. No clear separation between public duty and private profit. That’s not “America First.”

Trump lost the 2020 election, never accepted it, and has spent years trying to bend institutions to validate a lie. Trump cannot move on, cannot tell the truth, and cannot stop dragging the country through his personal grievances. He’s on a perpetual campaign against reality.
The IRS tax-return leaker is already serving a five-year prison sentence. Now Trump is suing the IRS and Treasury anyway for $10 billion. Translation: after the system punished the culprit, he still wants taxpayers to write him a massive check. That’s not accountability. That’s a shakedown.

Americans are fed up with a political system where big money speaks louder than everyday people. A new national poll shows that large majorities of voters believe money in politics is a threat to our elections, and that large donors make it harder for ordinary Americans to be heard.
We have to make sure during this difficult time that we keep speaking up, that we keep showing up, and that we keep standing up. Thanks to the Democratic Club of Carlsbad and Oceanside for having me. @demcco.bsky.social
