The CDC is already painfully understaffed. This reckless layoff threat and the constant bullying of federal workers by Trump & Elon—in the middle of a Bird Flu crisis no less—could put lives at risk. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Vought’s goals are not secret, nor are they subtle—we do not have to decipher anything here. He's going to break laws, cut programs that help Americans, and funnel all that money to billionaires. I'm voting NO.
The system of checks and balances does not work on its own. Congress has to do our part and BE the check—& now is our opportunity to do so.
We have to say the law is the law. And we have to REJECT Russ Vought's nomination.
While Trump is signing an executive order to try & make sure trans middle schoolers can't play sports with their friends, he's also forcing the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to halt any investigations of LGBTQ+ workplace discrimination. It's mean, ugly, & it doesn't help anyone.
If you're considering Trump's federal employee buyout, know that you deserve better than to have a billionaire with no real understanding of what you do, come in, belittle your work, & try to push you out the door—whether you're a food safety inspector or an air traffic controller.
Elon Musk has barged into DOL, which also oversees the Bureau of Labor Statistics—that's a huge deal. He could manipulate quarterly job numbers and much more. We are talking about MARKET MOVING INFORMATION! Do employers want Musk to have access to any of their confidential data?
So let me get this straight: the richest man in the world, with countless government contracts and ties to U.S. adversaries, is taking over our Treasury, in the name of "fighting corruption."
The irony is almost as rich as Musk himself.
Illegally blocking funding, getting rid of thousands of federal workers, and abolishing entire agencies are all extreme tactics taken right from Project 2025—which was written by Russ Vought.
It makes no sense to confirm him to manage our nation's budget.
Russ Vought is out of touch with America & dangerously out of touch with reality.
He's said that the 2020 election was rigged, that he wants to "traumatize" our federal workers, & that we live in a "post-constitutional" time.
These extreme views should be nowhere near our government.
I just came off the floor after speaking for an hour. I refuse to let Republicans confirm Russ Vought the easy way, so we're holding the floor through the night for 30 straight hours.
Vought has shown he'll ignore the law & constitution. I'll be voting NO tomorrow.
Every member of Congress—myself included—was elected to write our nation's laws.
Why on earth would we confirm Russ Vought to uphold those laws after he has made perfectly clear he has no intention of following them?
Donald Trump & Elon Musk are ripping the rug out from Americans all across the globe who have signed up to serve our country—often in some of the toughest places on Earth. It's not just wrong, it makes us less safe and gives China and Russia the upper hand.
Donald Trump has another thing coming if he thinks the people of this country—much less Congress—will consent to sending American soldiers overseas to ethnically cleanse Gaza and die for him so his family can build waterfront property.
Washington state is facing a full-blown housing crisis—& the leader of HUD needs to be prepared to help fix it.
Scott Turner is not that person if he won't stand up to Trump's lawless and corrupt agenda.
I voted NO to advance Scott Turner's confirmation.
Pam Bondi is a Donald Trump loyalist—she is an election denier who without evidence has parroted his calls to investigate his enemies.
Pam Bondi will not stand up to Trump's lawlessness—which is why I voted NO on her confirmation.
Today I voted NO to confirm Doug Collins as VA Secretary because at this point I have not seen a single cabinet secretary stand up to Trump and Musk’s illegal power grab that is putting our economy, national security, and future at risk.
No Member of Congress should be ceding power to the richest man in the world to decide where your tax dollars are going to go.
Democrats are pulling the fire alarm on how Trump's illegal actions are hurting families everywhere and putting our economy at risk—but it's Republicans who are the majority in Congress.
They need to decide if they're going to get out the fire hose or sit in the fire.
This is beyond unacceptable—we're STILL seeing fallout from Trump's illegal funding freeze. Families across my state and the country count on Head Start each and every day to help care for their kids. This needs to be fixed ASAP.
