This is not a rational person. And this is deeply disturbing coming from an American President. NATO is not our enemy—they are unequivocally our closest friends and allies. At this point, how can you not call into question the mental fitness of this President?
These funding bills send a message to Trump: America WILL continue to fund cancer research, we WILL keep investing in affordable housing, we will NOT abolish the Department of Education—and Congress, not Trump, will have the final say on spending taxpayer dollars.
ICE must be reined in, and unfortunately, neither a CR nor a shutdown would do anything to restrain it, because, thanks to Republicans, ICE is now sitting on a massive slush fund it can tap whether or not we pass a funding bill. My full statement on the DHS funding bill.
Trump's petty attempt to erase MLK Jr. Day and replace it with his own birthday is not just an act of narcissism, but another example of this admin's efforts to stoke division & erase the history of this country. Let us honor & remember Dr. King for his work today and every day.
Reminder: Senate Republicans BLOCKED an extension of the ACA tax credits (again) and are letting YOUR health care premiums skyrocket. And Trump's sorry excuse for a "plan" isn't going to change that.
To my Republican colleagues: ENOUGH. It's time for the Senate to vote to block these tariffs and to block the use of military force against Greenland. Trump is tearing apart our alliances in real time and the economic & diplomatic consequences will be catastrophic.
UW is leading the way in AI research—and the federal funding I secured will advance the cutting-edge work that’s already happening in a big way. There's incredible potential here, but I also want to ensure AI works for the average American—not just CEOs & billionaires.

Senator Murray is standing behind a young woman in a lab coat and looking over her shoulder at a laptop screen. There is a large monitor to the right of them that says "TILLICUM".
Senator Murray is standing in from of a white boards with writing all over it in marker. She is looking to the left and someone's hand is holding a microphone out in front of her.
Senator Murray is standing with 5 other people, all of which are smiling. The wall behind them has a large sign that reads "WRF Data Science Studio eScience Institute."
I said I would tear up Trump's budget and write a new one—and that's what I made sure we did. The Senate passed 3 bills to fund everything from flood control projects to clean energy research, & more. I'm going to make sure CONGRESS decides how taxpayer funds get spent—not Trump.
The people in Minneapolis are not creating chaos—Trump is. ICE is completely out of control.   Trump is terrorizing an entire city as an act of political retribution.   It's Minneapolis today, it could be Seattle or New York tomorrow. Speaking up matters right now.
