We can't become numb to this lunacy. Republicans can't let anti-vaxxers like Lyn Redwood help OVERSEE vaccine safety. She will spread even more dangerous lies about vaccines—and she’s going to get kids killed. She doesn't belong anywhere near CDC. My full statement. ⬇️
The SCOTUS decision to allow states to defund Planned Parenthood will mean real harm to millions of women who need cancer screenings or birth control in South Carolina and other GOP states that follow their lead.   A devastating blow to women's health care in America, but I’ll keep fighting back.
Murray to Vought: This should be a yes or no. What I hear is all kind of word salad to make sure you are letting us know that you intend to do things that are outside the intent of the law.
Republicans tried to effectively ban insurers from covering abortion care in their Big Ugly bill. This would've been catastrophic, even in states like mine where abortion is legal.   But Democrats fought and WON, stripping out this provision. It's not over. We'll keep fighting.
Russ Vought is already illegally withholding hundreds of billions in federal funding from our communities. Now, he's refusing to rule out cutting off even more funding with a new, illegal end run around Congress. He's ignoring common sense & the plain text of the law.
I pressed Trump's CDC nominee on how NONE of RFK Jr.'s vaccine advisory committee appointees have been properly vetted, and I raised how RFK Jr. is pushing dangerous disinformation & policies already undermining access to vaccines. We have to keep pushing until science & sanity are restored.
Russ Vought, Trump's budget chief, came before @senateapprops.bsky.social today to ask Congress to codify DOGE cuts. Here's what I had to say: Congress needs to REJECT these cuts and reassert its power of the purse. To my colleagues: join me in defending the authority of Congress.
Although she had no idea what I was talking about, I appreciate AG Bondi's offer to discuss the grants she's illegally terminating. However, our communities shouldn't have to rely on Senators playing whack-a-mole with this administration to restore public safety grants.
Sen. Murray: "When you cut off the Expanding Access to Sexual Assault Forensic Examinations grant, were you aware that that grant helps our authorities prosecute rape and sexual assault?" AG Bondi: "I have no idea about that specific grant you're talking about."
Republicans are not immune to public pressure.   Everybody hates this Big Ugly bill—and for good reason. Keep speaking up so that everyone knows what this bill actually does.   NO cuts to Medicaid. NO cuts to SNAP.   Every Senator should vote NO on Trump's Big Ugly Bill.
Here’s what I’m asking in response to VA Secretary Collins, over on X: Did you or did you not explicitly REMOVE language requiring health care professionals to care for veterans regardless of their politics & marital status? If you believe it has no impact, why not reinstate the language?
Anytime someone rightly calls out this administration for anti-veteran policies like firing VA staff without cause or changing discrimination policy, Trump's VA Secretary says they're "scaring veterans." So I told him today, if you don't want to "scare" veterans, STOP doing what you're doing.
When someone's local hospital closes, they won't "get over it."   When someone's nursing home closes, they won't "get over it."   When someone's kid is kicked off health care, they won't "get over it."   America, let these Republicans know you will NOT "get over" cuts to Medicaid.
Republicans may have a lot of power right now but that doesn’t mean we have none. Three years after Dobbs, I will keep telling the stories of the women suffering under Republican abortion bans. I will keep fighting anti-choice policies. And I’ll keep working to restore abortion rights nationwide.
There's a lot happening right now, but I won't let Republicans attack abortion rights & slink away from the limelight. Whether it's defunding Planned Parenthood or blocking insurers from covering abortion care, I'm fighting back & shining a burning spotlight on their backdoor plans to ban abortion.
Democrats stripped out the Republican provision in Trump's Big Ugly bill that would've put more than 250 MILLION acres of public lands up for auction. This is a victory, but STAY VIGILANT. Republicans aren't giving up—keep speaking out so public lands remain in public hands.
It does not get any more backwards than Republicans pushing rural hospitals to closure through partisan health care cuts... to then try to keep those hospitals open by creating a new fund to counteract their own policies.   There's a simpler solution. Vote NO on the entire bill.
