Democrats want to immediately pass a clean, four-week CR.   Let's prevent a shutdown and finish writing bipartisan bills that keep our government working for the American people—and ensure our constituents have a voice in this process.   We should get this done immediately.
I will not vote to weaken my power to fight for WA state. I will not vote to turn YOUR taxpayer dollars into Trump & Elon's personal slush funds. I will vote NO. We should pass my short term CR, avoid a shutdown, and do our jobs.
This is about breaking government for working families—and enriching billionaires like Elon & Trump in the process. Students, families, and teachers in every part of the country will pay the price for Trump’s slash and burn campaign to destroy public education in America.
BREAKING: The Department of Education prepares to lay off over 1,300 employees as President Trump vows to wind the agency down.
We have already seen how Trump will threaten to cut off states and cities that disagree with him—and how Elon will warp government to benefit his companies and hurt his competitors. Voting against this CR is about our ability to be a voice for our constituents here in Congress.
Think about what passing a slush fund CR will mean: what happens when Trump cuts staffing at national parks in your backyard because your Governor won’t deny climate change? Or you can’t get a bridge replaced because the political appointees at DOT don’t like a particular mayor?
House Republicans are NOT trying to responsibly fund the government. They are trying to turn it into a slush fund for Trump and Musk to wield as they see fit—so they can shift their focus entirely to tax cuts for billionaires.
The bill the House is voting on today is House Republicans’ own doing—and it is a dumpster fire. So, I am sounding the alarm about this fire before it spreads. We can STILL pass my short-term CR and negotiate full year funding bills.
There is a reason why Elon and Russ Vought want Congress to pass Speaker Johnson's slush fund CR. We should not let Elon and Trump pick winners and losers or defund programs they either don't like or don't understand. They will hurt blue AND red states. VOTE NO.
Trump is singularly responsible for tanking the economy. Launching an incoherent trade war and raising prices. Threatening to upend state budgets with massive cuts to Medicaid. Massive arbitrary federal layoffs. That's all on Trump.
Wall Street suffered its worst day of the year on Monday, amid investor fears that President Trump's tariffs could raise prices, slow the economy and sow uncertainty among businesses. The S&P 500 has now erased all the gains it made since Election Day. nyti.ms/4hlQ2n9
A clear alternative to the House GOP funding plan is to pass my short-term bill with @delauro.house.gov to prevent a shutdown & finish work on bipartisan funding bills that invest in workers, keep our country safe, & ensure our constituents have a say in how federal funding is spent.
During the worst measles outbreak in DECADES, we ABSOLUTELY must invest funding, time, & energy toward understanding why some Americans are hesitant to get the vaccines they need. We want people to get vaccinated so they don't die. It makes NO sense to eliminate this research.
This unelected billionaire is LYING about Social Security AGAIN. TAKE NOTE: Elon Musk is spreading insane conspiracy theories in plain view so he can go after the Social Security benefits you pay into your entire life. NO cuts to Social Security benefits OR staff!
Elon Musk reiterated his intention to destroy programs like Social Security, which he has called a Ponzi scheme: "Most of the federal spending is entitlements... that’s the big one to eliminate."
We need a Labor Secretary who will stand up for workers and uphold the law. Instead, Chavez-DeRemer is willing to hand our government over to Elon Musk. I have never voted NO for so many nominees in my career, but no other administration has been so brazenly corrupt.
🚨A senior Social Security official is, "seriously concerned that SSA programs will continue to function and operate without disruption.” That's because an unelected billionaire who thinks Social Security is a "Ponzi scheme" is digging around your private data and firing staff.
Musk and DOGE are unilaterally making drastic, arbitrary, and cruel decisions about YOUR taxpayer dollars with NO transparency. That has got to end. Elon Musk must come before Congress for a hearing and be held accountable to the American people.
Great to meet with former @seahawksofficial.com star, Bobby Wagner! When Bobby wasn't making big plays on the field, he was giving back to WA state by supporting financial literacy programs, mental health treatment, & more. I'm grateful young kids have him as a role model on & off the field.
Senator Murray is standing next to a tall man in a suit who has his arm on her shoulder. Both are smiling at the camera. Behind them, there is a fireplace, an American flag, and a door.
Billy Frank Jr. spent his life working to defend Tribal treaty rights and support salmon recovery efforts. I'm grateful for the time I spent with him working to make WA state a better place—and know his legacy will live on today and always.
Speaker Johnson has rolled out a slush fund continuing resolution that would give Donald Trump and Elon Musk more power over federal spending—and more power to pick winners and losers, which threatens families in blue and red states alike. Read my full statement ⬇️
