I do not believe that the Administration’s decision has met that standard in this instance. Our priority now must be to re-engage with our allies and Israel to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East, and prevent our nation from being drawn into another prolonged military conflict in the region.

However, the decision to conduct military action & send our brave servicemembers into harm’s way must only be made after deliberate and careful consideration, in close consultation with Congress and a coalition of our allies.
Let me be clear, no one believes Iran should be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon.
I thank all the members of the Military Service Academy Board for their thoughtful participation in this process, and encourage all students who are interested in being part of the Class of 2030 to contact my office for additional information.
It is my honor to nominate these brave and selfless individuals from Indiana’s First Congressional District to join the United States Military Service Academies for the Class of 2029.
As we celebrate Juneteenth, I encourage everyone to explore the significance of this day with the resources available below through the Library of Congress:
At the same time, I believe our nation has a critical role to play in facilitating meaningful diplomatic efforts to bring an end to the violence. The ultimate goal across the region and in Gaza must be the pursuit of lasting peace, mutual respect, and coexistence among all people.
Israel has the right to defend itself against terrorism and those who seek its destruction. The United States must stand firm in support of our democratic ally, while also working with international partners to prevent the further loss of innocent life.
I remain gravely concerned about the prospect of extremist Iranian leaders acquiring a nuclear weapon & the significant threat this poses to our allies in Israel & to regional stability.
As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I continue to closely monitor the escalating military conflict in the Middle East.
Recently spoke on the House floor to honor Ms. Sara Schaller from Hammond, who was a recent recipient of the Carnegie Medal for her efforts to save a girl from drowning in Lake Michigan.
Grateful to join members of the Portage American Legion Auxiliary Post #260 and American Legion Post #94 in Valparaiso to congratulate members of the Porter County Veterans Treatment Court program upon their graduation.
Now is the time for our leaders to choose to de-escalate tensions and find reasoned and empathetic approaches to resolve our differences.
My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims, and with the brave first responders working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.
It is absolutely appalling and heartbreaking to learn of this tragic violence in Minnesota and attack against our democratic principles through the targeting of public servants.
As we recognize #FlagDay I encourage everyone to learn more about our national flag with the resources available below through the Library of Congress.

Thank you to all of the creative students across Indiana’s First Congressional District who participated in the Congressional Art Competition and showcased their artistic ability. Congratulations to Adam from Chesterton High School on creating such a moving piece of artwork representing our region.
Spoke on the House floor to express my profound opposition to the unjust slashes to SNAP benefits included in the House Majority’s Reconciliation legislation.
I asked the Commerce Secretary about how the Administration is going to protect United Steelworker jobs in light of the recent agreement with Nippon. I will continue to seek every opportunity to fight for our domestic steel industry & ensure that promises made in this agreement are promises kept.
Spoke on the House floor to express my profound opposition to the cruel cuts to Medicaid included in the House Majority’s Reconciliation legislation. This legislation amounts to the largest transfer of wealth from the pockets of the most vulnerable and working families to the richest among us.
