Today starts 401Gives, a time when Rhode Islanders support nonprofit organizations across the state. Last year, RI made history by raising over $4.9 MILLION. And I look forward to seeing what we accomplish together this year. 👉Visit 401gives.org to participate.
Proud to stand with the Central Falls community for the ribbon cutting of the new Central Falls High School. It’s been a long road and a lot of work, but now thousands of students will benefit from this incredible new facility. Warrior Pride!
Every child deserves a safe, modern place to learn. Today we celebrated upgrades to EG High School, Frenchtown Elementary and Hanaford Elementary. It’s really exciting to see the school construction program I helped launch years ago still producing results.
Rhode Islanders are being hit with sky-high energy bills while big corporations post record profits. I am cosponsoring new legislation to aggressively lower costs by cracking down on price gouging, ensuring data centers pay for their energy, and investing in affordable clean energy.
Today I met with SAG-AFTRA President and college football legend 😂 Sean Astin at the Labor Caucus to talk about protecting workers in the entertainment industry. From fair wages to protecting people’s image and likeness from being copied by AI, we have to make sure artists are treated fairly.
Great to meet with students from North Kingstown High School who are visiting DC through the Close Up Foundation! These young leaders are learning how our democracy works and making their voices heard. Awesome to see the next generation stepping up and getting involved.
Not all good jobs require a four-year degree. We need to invest in career and technical education so Rhode Islanders can train for in-demand jobs in the trades, construction, health care, automotive, and more. Thanks to the Association of Career and Technical Education for working with me on this.
Proud to secure $850K for a new community center in South Kingstown. This space will serve as a hub for recreation and connection for residents at the Champagne Heights housing development. Supporting affordable housing with projects like this one remains a top priority for me in Congress.
Ocean State workers have always stepped up to support our nation's defense, and do so today with the construction of U.S. Navy submarines at Quonset. Grateful to spend time with Electric Boat leadership this morning to discuss how we can strengthen maritime security & support those who do the work.
16 years ago, the Affordable Care Act was signed into law - making health care more affordable for millions. Today, the fight continues to lower costs driven up by corporate greed and a Republican majority unwilling to stand with working people over their big pocketed donors.
Two former Members of Congress—one Republican, one Democrat—are calling for Congress to pass my and Chip Roy’s bill, the Restore Trust in Congress Act. This bill fully takes on corruption in Congress and would pass overwhelmingly if brought to the floor. Speaker Johnson: it is time.
Big corporations are making a killing by jacking up prices on energy, health care, food and other essentials. The reason this happens is that politicians in Washington are letting it happen. It’s time for real change.
I was honored to meet with the Brain Aneurysm Foundation in my DC office this week to discuss advances in brain aneurysm treatment. With support from Congress, we can improve research and better understand the risks before aneurysms occur.
