While House Republicans hide from their constituents, @housedemocrats.bsky.social are listening to and amplifying our constituents’ concerns about the chaos unleashed by the Trump Administration and Elon Musk. I shared with @newsnation.bsky.social what I’m hearing.
Trump’s executive order on “election integrity” requires documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. But, with the exception of military IDs, the only permissible documents cost money. This is a poll tax, plain and simple, which is illegal under the 24th Amendment.
Republicans claim their budget plan doesn’t mention Medicaid, but the Congressional Budget Office says they can’t meet their goals without stripping away over 630,000 Virginians’ health care. That’s why I sounded the alarm on the impact Medicaid cuts will have on Virginia.
Pete Hegseth’s war plan messages in a non-secure group chat risked the lives of our servicemembers and intelligence officers. His incompetence and carelessness in handling such a high-stakes operation is inexcusable. Hegseth must resign from his posting immediately, or he must be fired.
Pete Hegseth has lost what little faith we had in him to carry out the duties of Secretary of Defense. He must resign immediately or be fired. Statement from New Dem National Security Working Group ⬇️
From our first public act in the 1913 Women’s Suffrage Parade to this week’s 36th Annual Delta Days in the Nation’s Capital, @dstinc1913.bsky.social has moved forward with fortitude. Proud to join my fellow sorors in Congress and from across the country for #DDNC25. #ForwardWithFortitude

Renewable energy is critical to keeping the lights on and meeting increasing energy demand. In today’s @energycommerce.bsky.social Energy Subcommittee hearing, I questioned our electric grid operators about their plans to incorporate clean and renewable sources in their regional grid planning.
Last year, the gender wage gap widened for the first time in over two decades. This #EqualPayDay reminds us that the fight for equal pay is far from over. @demwomencaucus.bsky.social keeps working to ensure that all women and girls receive the pay they deserve.
I’m outraged by the constant recklessness coming from Pete Hegseth, our least qualified Secretary of Defense to date. This is a national embarrassment, not to mention a dangerous security breach.
American war planning usually takes place in highly secure facilities. But the Trump administration planned its strikes on the Houthis using a group chat—and accidentally included The Atlantic’s editor in chief, Jeffrey Goldberg. theatln.tc/IuULQFiY
Every time this nation has made progress towards the ideals upon which it was founded, there has been a backlash. We are in that backlash now. The CBC will continue to fight to protect and build on our progress.
During last week’s House recess, I was back in the district sounding the alarm on the damage Trump and Congressional Republicans have inflicted on two cornerstones of well-being for every family — their health and education. Read more in my newsletter ⬇️

Virginia has the highest percentage of women veterans of any state in the nation. As we close out Women Veterans Week, I recommit to addressing the unique needs of the over 110,000 women veterans who call Virginia home. Thank you for your courage, sacrifice and service! 🇺🇸

Next week, I'll be heading back to Washington, where I'll continue fighting efforts by House Republicans to rip away health care and other services from the American people. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the week!
ICYMI: This week in the district, I spoke out against Republican Medicaid cuts and the Trump Administration’s dismantling of the Department of Education. Watch to see what you missed this week.
Congratulations to University of Richmond WBB on your first @marchmadnesswbb.bsky.social tournament victory in program history!! You’ve made your @urichmond.bsky.social alumna Congresswoman proud! 🕷️🏀❤️💙 #OneRichmond #MarchMadness
