This Black History Month we reflect on and celebrate the countless and profound achievements and contributions of Black Americans to Rhode Island and our nation.
Check out some greats ways to get involved & get inspired:

I’m focused on bringing prices down.
Trump’s tariffs & economic policies – a de-facto ‘Trump Tax’ on American consumers – are likely to make things like groceries more expensive.
President Trump should take a smarter, more balanced approach to our economy that works for American families.
Sharing stories of hope, perseverance, joy, & community at the iconic 49th Annual Meeting Street Telethon.
Thanks to all the callers who rang me up while I helped phone bank & offered up support for this terrific organization.
Proud to help welcome the new Adjutant General of the Rhode Island National Guard, Brigadier General Andrew Chevalier and offer our gratitude for the service of former TAG, Major General Christopher Callahan.
The federal gov’t should work for YOU, not needlessly lock you out & deny you services.
I’ll keep pushing to ensure Trump’s disruptive federal funding freeze is truly rescinded.

RI federal workers are right to be wary of Trump’s unauthorized ‘Deferred Resignation’ scheme.
It sounds like a trap.
Administrations routinely change every four years, but the Constitution & responsibilities of civil servants remains steadfast.
Will Trump’s federal grant freeze lower prices? No.
Will it strengthen our economy? No.
Will it waste U.S. taxpayers’ dollars & cause widespread confusion? It already has.

This freeze stems from either gross incompetence or an unprecedented power grab.
Either way, it puts key federal responsibilities on the chopping block, including: public safety, education, health care & Medicaid, veterans care, infrastructure, housing, national security & more.
This is a crisis of Trump's own making. It's bad for our economy, weakens America, and harms all 50 states.
Congressional Republicans have a choice: abet the damage through inaction and subservience or stand up with Democrats.

80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz, we remember the more than 6 million Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust & all who fought against bigotry & extremism.
With anti-Semitism on the rise, we must stand up against hatred and ensure it never happens again. #NeverForget
Big Banks are raking in massive profits by charging borrowers more while paying savers little, leaving working families behind. That needs to stop. I’m calling on Big Bank CEOs to stop shortchanging consumers.

“The time is always right to do what is right.” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
This #MLKDay, I’m thinking of the enduring words & lessons that Dr. King shared with us in the fight for justice & equality. Today, more than ever, we must work together to do what is right.
Honored to welcome 12 new firefighters to the East Providence Fire Dept.
With the help of $3.75M in federal funds to boost staffing, these brave new firefighters are ready to get to work serving & protecting the people of EP. Grateful for their service & courage.
We need to increase awareness & research funding for women’s health issues that have been overlooked for too long. Glad to see RI researchers examining root causes of gestational diabetes & developing new solutions to improve outcomes & treatment.

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home.
New federal funding will strengthen wrap-around services to help RIers experiencing homelessness break the cycle of poverty & access pathways to long-term stable housing.

I helped deliver federal funds to support the arts in RI because when we invest in the arts, we’re helping our communities thrive.
Congrats to this year’s recipients & thanks for offering new opportunities for local artists and youth!
