In the only 13 years since its founding, the #CFPB has been a crucial pillar in our fight to protect everyday consumers from bad actors and maintain a competitive financial system. (2/2)
#HandsOffTheCFPB
In 2012, I was proud to be among the leaders behind the formation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau – but now, I joined Rep. Maxine Waters and my House Financial Services colleagues to protest against the #Musk takeover of this vital consumer protection agency. (1/2)
If only there was some financial bureau that was specifically created to protect consumers from such scams...

I urge the Senate to take up this common-sense and bipartisan bill without delay to get homeless disabled veterans into the VA housing built for them. (2/2)

I am honored that the House passed the Housing Unhoused Disabled #Veterans Act (HUDVA) -- crucial legislation introduced by Rep. Monica De La Cruz and I to remove an unfair barrier preventing disabled homeless veterans from accessing veteran housing. (1/2)
Last week on the Floor of the House, I rose in defense of #USAID against baseless Republican attacks and explained its importance to the security and health of our nation.

Last week on the House Floor, I vehemently denounced efforts by #Trump and Republicans to condition wildfire aid to California and also defended my state against their outrageous attempts to politicize the worst fire disaster in our nation’s history.

I also stressed to the Governor how the current March 10 deadline to apply for FEMA and SBA aid is outrageously short, and urged an extension until December 31 so more Californians can get the assistance they need in the wake of the worst fire disaster in U.S. history. (2/2)
Held a productive meeting with @governor.ca.gov Newsom during his trip to Capitol Hill. We discussed securing expedited disaster aid critical to our recovery from the devastating #LosAngelesWildFires (1/2)
Today Republicans put on a hearing claiming to strengthen community banks - all while #Trump is causing chaos in our financial markets & gutting consumer protection agencies, like #CFPB, which benefit community banks by maintaining competition & consumer confidence.

The recent wildfires have underscored the need for safe and stable housing, and there's nothing more shameful than a disabled veteran forced to live on the streets. This bill will ensure that a veteran’s disability benefits will no longer close the door to the housing they vitally need. (2/2)
Rep. Monica De La Cruz and I have reintroduced the Housing Unhoused Disabled #Veterans Act (HUDVA), to get homeless disabled veterans into the housing they need and deserve. (1/2)

Retreat. Without honor.
#USAID
President Trump's efforts to dissolve #USAID aren't just illegal - they risk America's security, prosperity, and the health of our families
The biggest threat to autocracies is democracy. If we aren’t supporting democracy, these regimes have little to fear. Their evil will be bolder. (2/2)
This is a giant gift to America's greatest adversaries - from the Ayatollahs who control Iran to Russia, China, North Korea and Venezuela. (1/2)

Today I joined Rep. Laura Friedman, Rep. Judy Chu, Rep. George Whitesides and other key officials to bring attention to the dangerous toxins released into our air from the devastating #LosAngelesFires and urge immediate action to address this dangerous public health crisis.
Also, as I understand it, President #Trump has done nothing with regard to Northern California water. A pumping station was closed for three days for maintenance and now it’s open, as it was throughout the Biden administration. (2/2)
This has absolutely nothing to do with the #LosAngelesFires - our reservoirs are full. The water delivery system in the #PacificPalisades was unable to move water uphill into the Palisades in the quantities necessary to fight the biggest property damage fire in the history of America. (1/2)
