I'm introducing the Social Security Expansion Act with @repvalhoyle.bsky.social, @sanders.senate.gov, & @warren.senate.gov. Our bill extends the trust fund’s solvency for 75 years & expands benefits by $2,400 a year. All Americans deserve to retire with security & dignity after a lifetime of work.
Trump and his puppet master Musk went rogue and illegally froze billions of dollars of congressionally allocated funds, leaving many agencies and organizations scrambling. Even after this was overruled in court, nearly $1.9 billion remains unaccounted for. The people of Illinois demand answers.
I’m demanding answers, alongside members of the Illinois federal delegation, from the Trump administration for ignoring court orders to release almost $1.88 billion in federal funding for our state. If they can't hold their end of the deal, Illinoisans deserve to know.
Constituents have been calling me all day to share how important Medicaid is to them and their families. Whether it helps pay for their caregiver or their medication, Medicaid is a lifesaver. To my GOP colleagues, I know you're getting these calls too. Health care is more important than tax cuts.
Gutting NHTSA is a death sentence for countless Americans. Over 100 Americans will die today due to car crashes, and 5 million others will face life-changing injuries this year on our roads. Musk cares more about enriching himself than keeping our roads safe. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...
Today's vote at the UN is contrary to everything we stand for as a nation. For three years, the Ukrainian people have held strong in their resolve and bravely pushed back on the Kremlin’s attempts to capture their territory. We must stand with Ukraine and stand for democracy and freedom worldwide.
To all the caregivers – your love, compassion, and tireless work doesn’t go unnoticed!   We have a president who would rather enrich his billionaire friends than give you the support you need. On #NationalCaregiversDay, I reaffirm my commitment to you and vow to stand against any cuts to Medicaid.
Trump promised to “Make America Healthy Again.” How is that supposed to happen if he’s firing staff at the FDA who work to ensure the chemicals in our food are safe to eat? Trump and Musk are putting American lives at risk to fund billionaire tax cuts. apnews.com/article/fda-...
Our bill requires all event ticket sellers to display the total ticket price—including all required fees—upfront, provide refunds for canceled or postponed events, and protect consumers from deceptive ticketing websites. Consumers deserve to be protected. schakowsky.house.gov/media/press-...
With every ticketing debacle, from Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour to Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour, fans' frustration grows. Rep. Gus Bilirakis and I just reintroduced our bipartisan bill to improve transparency in the entertainment industry.
Trump is directing the Army Corps to greenlight projects like the Line 5 pipeline, allowing them to skip the permitting process despite the proven danger it poses to Lake Michigan. Trump would rather enrich Big Oil execs than protect our water. Not on my watch. www.reuters.com/world/us/us-...
Trump's order to suspend funding for resettlement agencies directly harms families in the 9th District. RefugeeOne works tirelessly to help individuals who have fled violence and war become independent and self-supporting members of our community.
Trump last night: No cuts to Medicaid Trump this morning: Supports House GOP's budget with over $880 billion in cuts to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. Don't be fooled by Trump's lies. He wants tax cuts for billionaires funded by cuts to the lifesaving programs that working families rely on.
🚨 Trump endorses House GOP budget resolution and takes a swipe at Graham's Senate plan After two months, Trump weighs in firmly on the intra-party clash, insisting Congress pass his agenda in 1 bill... One day after Senate voted to begin a 2-bill strategy. www.nbcnews.com/politics/con...
I know Valentine’s Day is supposed to be about love letters, but @rephuffman.bsky.social , @raskin.house.gov, and I had a different idea. We just led 42 of our colleagues in a letter to President Trump demanding that he support our public schools and oppose school voucher programs.
🚨🚨Please be aware of a major water main break in Skokie. Residents are advised to boil tap water for the time being. Road closures include McCormick St. from Dempster to Golf Rd. and East Prairie Rd. from Church St. to Golf Rd. wgntv.com/news/skokie/...
Trump and Musk have been in office for three weeks and haven't done a thing to lower costs for working people. But billionaires? They’re getting more tax cuts. Over 40 million Americans rely on SNAP to put food on the table, yet the GOP would rather gut it than ask the rich to pay their fair share.
RFK Jr. cannot be left in charge to make health care decisions that will impact the American people. He is unqualified and a threat to our nation’s public health. I’m urging all my colleagues in the Senate to vote against this dangerous nomination.
