It never should've taken this long, but welcome to the House (officially), Congresswoman Grijalva.
Democrat Adelita Grijalva has been sworn in as the House's newest member after a weekslong delay, paving the way for a vote to release Jeffrey Epstein case files.

My Republican colleague justified his vote to let the Senators who were investigated after January 6th give themselves kickbacks worth millions of dollars by suggesting they would be too ashamed to claim that money.
Wouldn’t you say, shame is dead in DC?
We celebrated the return of Congress with a 7 hour Rules meeting (one hour for each week of Speaker Johnson’s vacation).
It could have been longer, but my Republican colleagues were absent for most of our meeting - apparently under instructions not to engage.
Babies need to eat even if DC politicians are too busy playing partisan games or refusing to come to work instead of ending a government shutdown.
I introduced an amendment to make WIC a mandatory funding program, to guarantee no baby goes hungry.
Every Republican in the Rules Committee voted no.
Each new revelation is more damning than the last.
No wonder they don’t want to release the Epstein files.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social are trying to amend the Senate’s funding bill to protect Americans’ healthcare and take out the poison pills.
@houserepublicans.bsky.social can’t even bother to show up to debate it.
Our @houserepublicans.bsky.social colleagues skipped town after refusing to extend the ACA subsidies.
I asked @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social if that time could’ve been used to reverse the Trump tariffs and lower costs for Americans.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social are here to work to save healthcare for millions of Americans.
Our Republican colleagues haven't shown up to work in two months to extend ACA tax credits, but have had no problem passing billionaire tax cuts this summer.
The difference couldn't be more stark.
Rules Democrats are here to reverse the worst parts of the Senate bill, and extend ACA tax credits.
It’s going to be a long night. Tune in here: www.c-span.org/event/house-...

Some good news out of the Supreme Court for a change.

The White House is doubling down on letting 42 million Americans go hungry, appealing a court decision that demands it must pay 100% of the SNAP benefits it blocked.
It's unconscionable and the American people won’t forget.
Americans are facing a healthcare crisis NOW and this Senate deal does nothing to fix that.
It's a bad deal and I cannot support it.
Americans deserve better.

UPDATE: Donald Trump is so hellbent on denying people SNAP that he went all the way to the Supreme Court to block benefits.
Now Trump is trying to bully states into TAKING BACK payments they already made to families.
It’s chaos for the sake of cruelty.
Republicans rejected it.
The Trump Administration is working overtime to deny food stamps to 42 million Americans.
It’s been a wild week. Here’s what you need to know:
The current CR would shut the government down again next week.
Democrats offered a solution to reopen the government and keep healthcare affordable for 24 million Americans through the next year.
I’m at the Delco emergency food drive.
The White House may not get it, but Delco does!
People started lining up to drop off food at 7 a.m.
The drive is open at 1797 Sproul Road from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. today.
Neighbors helping neighbors.
SNAP payments are going out late to millions of Americans, because this White House made the unfathomable choice to force Americans to go hungry.
