Operating engineers help keep our communities running. I will keep pushing for worker safety, fair wages, and continued infrastructure investment.
Some meetings remind you what’s at stake. I am grateful for the conversation with the American Coalition for Ukraine on standing with Ukraine, strengthening partnerships, and demanding the return of abducted Ukrainian children.
As we kick off a new season, here’s a friendly reminder that I’m here to serve YOU. If you or anyone you know needs help with a federal agency, don’t hesitate to reach out to my office at 616-451-8383.
When Michigan builds, union workers lead the way. Good to sit down with the Michigan Building Trades Council today to talk about what it takes to keep projects moving, grow the next generation of skilled trades workers, and make sure hard work still comes with good pay and strong benefits.
I met with Trinity Health leadership to talk about what matters most: lowering health care costs, strengthening our workforce, and expanding access to care. I’ll keep fighting for West Michigan families and the care they deserve.
Today I met with SMART Local Union #7 to talk about growing apprenticeship pathways, supporting the next generation of workers, and protecting the good-paying union jobs families rely on. When we invest in workers, we invest in our communities.
I’m always looking for ways to hear directly from young people in our community.
If you’re a high school student in West Michigan, apply to join my 2026 Congressional Youth Advisory Council.
I joined Grand Rapids Public Schools as they launched the first electric school buses in district history. I was proud to help secure $5.2 million through the EPA Clean School Bus Program to make this possible. Let’s get kids to school safely and with clean air to breathe!
It was great to meet with students from East Kentwood High School. I always enjoy hearing from young people who are engaged, asking thoughtful questions, and thinking about how they can make a difference in their communities.
The future of West Michigan is bright.
Congratulations to Carly Bauman on earning her second Regional Gymnast of the Year award! Michigan keeps raising the bar. Go Blue!

Great meeting with the Joint Action Committee today to talk through key priorities, from reproductive freedom to combating antisemitism and strengthening gun safety.
I’ll keep working to translate these conversations into action for West Michigan.
Trump’s attempt to terminate TPS would be life-threatening for the 350,000+ Haitian nationals in our country & the communities they support.
I voted YES on @RepPressley’s legislation to extend Haiti TPS and provide our neighbors with the critical protections they deserve.
