I seek common ground in common sense, especially regarding clean energy policy – and I’m so thankful to the Department of Treasury for incorporating my suggestions and finalizing my rule. More here. thehill.com/policy/energ...
Twelve years ago today, we lost 20 beautiful, young students and 6 educators in the senseless, tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary. I pray for the families of the victims.
Our children deserve a future free of gun violence. We don't have to continue living like this.
Accessible, affordable housing should include EVERYONE. Thank you to Academy Manor and the Dominican Sisters of Grand Rapids for hosting me and being such incredible partners in the work to help our seniors thrive in their golden years.
With many cold, wintry weeks ahead of us, it was so meaningful to participate in the Mix 957 Warm Hearts coat drive in Wyoming today. Let’s continue supporting our neighbors however we can, West Michigan. Our warmth is what makes our community so special. 🧥
Team Scholten hosted our interviews for prospective applicants to our nation’s prestigious service academies today, and WOW, these students are impressive! I know we'll have a tough time selecting finalists – we have so many future leaders to be proud of here in MI-03.
If you can’t pass a background check, there’s a reason. If you’re buying or building a ghost gun to get around that, THERE'S A REASON.
Ghost guns have no place in our communities — so let's find common ground in common sense and take action now.

Thank you to our D.C. office fall semester interns who have been working for the people of West Michigan since August. Team Scholten and our constituents are grateful for your service!
Hoping for nothing but the best for all of you!
MI-03 is home to some AMAZING small, Black-owned businesses, like Basic Bee, where I got this lovely frock to wear to the VP’s residence yesterday. It’s so special to get to show off the best that West Michigan has to offer here in D.C. Thank you, Basic Bee!
I hosted leaders from Radiant Nuclear to discuss a brighter, cleaner future driven by green technology and jobs. I’m working hard to generate good-paying jobs for West Michiganders that contribute positively to a climate-friendly world.
❄️Wind chills near zero, school closures, winter is here, West Michigan! Make sure to bundle up and drive carefully on icy roads. ❄️

Spent a lovely afternoon at the Vice President’s residence with my colleagues and fellow Michigander @rephaleystevens.bsky.social! Thank you Madame Vice President for hosting us and spreading some holiday joy!
I was thinking of Captain Nava’s family as I stopped by the Gold Star Family Tree at the White House Holiday Party. I'm determined to pass my bill to rename the Comstock Park Post Office in Capt. Nava's honor and solidify his legacy for the Nava family and our entire community.
The Michigan delegation just won’t be the same without Rep. Kildee. Your leadership and advocacy for Michiganders have changed our state for the better. Wishing you nothing but the best in your next chapter!
Thanks to the Environmental Protection Agency, extremely toxic, carcinogenic chemicals are being phased out of cleaning products. I applaud this new rule, which will protect West Michiganders' health.

Let's air out the dirty laundry in House GOP's "Liberty in Laundry Act." It would raise costs for Americans and thwart efficiency standards that consumer advocates AND the appliance manufacturing industry favor.
We should be focused on governing, not garments.
Today, my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and I passed the final version of the Water Resources Development Act. WRDA will protect our Great Lakes while fortifying our flow of commerce — a huge win for MI-03!
In this season of giving, consider giving blood. You never know whose life you could change – or even save – by doing so. I donated last week, and it’s quick, easy, and SO worth it to help our neighbors in need.

Human rights are the foundation of a just society.
Let’s continue our work to expand human rights across the globe – especially for our children. As the co-lead of the Child Labor Prevention Task Force, I won’t stop working until we end child labor once and for all.
In 2024, Team Scholten closed over 700 cases for West Michiganders, such as this IRS case for Barbara G. Our team helped her obtain her late husband’s tax refund and put it to meaningful use. We’re here to support you, West Michigan.
No better way to get into the holiday spirit than the Singing Christmas Tree!
