My statement after voting no on this bill:
Did you know that 1/3 of our neighbors in IL-17 utilize Medicaid?
Did you know that we’re voting on a bill that will drastically cut services?
I will vote NO on GOP’s ‘Big Billionaire Bailout’ because I’m fighting for my neighbors – not the filthy rich who don’t need a tax break at your expense.
I don’t hate that.
And I don’t think many people realize how nursing homes work. You sell your home and then those assets pay a percentage with Medicaid and Medicare picking up the rest. Without Medicaid, only the wealthy seniors who can reverse-mortgage or sell estates will live out their years comfortably. 2/2

It’s not about saying you do the work, it’s showing the results. I grew up in Winnebago County and my parents didn’t fear for my safety. Moms and Dads should know they have security in their neighborhoods and I’m proud to have secured federal funding to help build a law enforcement training center.

There was no mechanism for it to succeed. When we get articles that are constitutional from committee and we have the votes, and the people say yes, I’m all in.
Not sure America is ready for fascists vs. socialists. I’d rather find common ground on the center left. But again, if you want to run in IL17 as a democratic socialist, I would welcome you to the race. I, however, am going to bed. My 1 hour of daily social is done.

Every member of Dem leadership voted the same as I did. This needs to come from committee with articles, not brought to a floor with a symbolic vote that will fail.
I actually talked with her on the floor during the vote! Spoiler alert: every member of Dem leadership voted to table. Might want to call up Leader Jeffries. 😉
