After a federal court stopped DHS from blocking immigration detention oversight visits, the department quietly reinstated the same policy. Members were denied access AGAIN. That is not compliance. That is defiance. Members of Congress will keep fighting in the courts!
I met with Linfield math professor Dr. Kate Lorenzen to discuss the importance of federal funding for math & education.
As a Science Committee member, I'm calling out Trump’s cuts to federal funding & fighting to ensure our students have access to the tools they need to thrive in our workforce.
✅ Lowering the cost of living for you and your neighbors is a top priority of mine.
❌ President Trump cannot say the same.
You deserve better.

Human trafficking affects more than 27 million people worldwide.
Today, on National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, let’s bring attention to the issue and share where help exists.
If you or somebody you know needs assistance, contact the national hotline at 1-888-373-7888.
Two people were shot in Portland. What happened was not okay, and I am demanding full transparency that includes state and local officials in the investigation.
We must restore safety and peace in our communities.
As the investigation continues, it’s essential that state and local law enforcement are included in this effort to ensure all the facts come to light and those responsible are held accountable. [2/2]
I am aware of a situation involving CBP agents shooting two people outside of Adventist Health Hospital in Portland this afternoon, and I am in communication with state and local officials. As details continue to emerge, I urge all Oregonians to remain calm and peaceful. [1/2]
I proudly voted to extend the lifesaving ACA tax credits that so many Americans rely on.

Read my statement on today’s vote.
I just spoke on the House Floor in support of extending ACA tax credits.
Millions of Americans are counting on us. Let's get it done. Watch here 👇
15 years ago, six people were tragically killed and Congresswoman Gabby Giffords was nearly assassinated in Tucson, Arizona.
Today, we remember those lost and honor the victims by condemning all political violence.
House Democrats forced a vote on ACA tax credits over Speaker Johnson’s opposition. You can count on my vote to extend them.
I call on my Republican colleagues to do the same so we can get this bill to the Senate ASAP.
American families can’t afford to wait.

Debido a las amenazas continuas de la administración Trump hacia los inmigrantes, es importante que los habitantes de Oregón conozcan sus derechos si son abordados o detenidos por ICE.

Last Congress, @salinas.house.gov was a leader in opposing Republicans' anti-LGBTQI+ State Department & Foreign Operations appropriations bill for FY25.
After ripping Republicans' attacks from the floor—she made the motion to send the bill back to committee.

Early last year, @salinas.house.gov called out the GOP’s trans sports ban legislation for what it was: an attack on ALL girls that would lead to harassment of girls who grow faster, play harder, or are simply more talented.
Bans & inspections don’t work—but they do traumatize.

When Trump shut down 988's specialized services for LGBTQI+ youth in crisis, @salinas.house.gov led a call to the House Appropriations Committee to maintain funding for these services and spoke at a press conference demanding they be restored.
