160 years ago today, our nation ratified the 13th Amendment, abolishing the horrific institution of slavery. The 13th Amendment was a defining step toward equality, but our work to build a more just nation continues.
On December 5, 1955, the Montgomery Bus Boycott began — a key moment in the modern Civil Rights Movement. We remember & honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, & many other civil rights heroes who were part of this momentous boycott in furthering equality & justice for all.
Only somebody who has never worried about bills or grocery prices in his life would call affordability a “scam”... looking at you, President Trump. The bottom line: families are struggling. If Trump can’t recognize that simple truth, then he’s obviously not equipped to solve it.
When people move into a new house after a difficult chapter, the smallest comforts help rebuild a sense of stability. Furniture banks help newly housed families turn houses into homes by providing basic household goods. My bill gives them support so families can start fresh with dignity ⤵️
📞 I called #Carlton Mayor Watkins to give her some good news that federal funding is heading their way to improve and update critical infrastructure. Listen to our call to hear more about the project 🎧
Since President Trump took office, energy costs have skyrocketed 11%. He promised hardworking American families with lowering the cost of living, instead he gave massive tax breaks to his billionaire buddies. He turned his back on you and lied.
Some people are going to have to go without health care because Republicans have yet to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits. If they’re serious about helping American families, they should work across the aisle with @housedemocrats.bsky.social to extend ACA premium tax credits.
Oregon is blessed with a rich biodiversity, and its future depends on our stewardship. Today on #WorldWildlifeConservationDay, we celebrate the many species we share our planet with and recommit to protecting the ecosystems that sustain us all.
Donald Trump and Republicans lied when they promised they would lower the cost of living. 16,000 Oregonians are going to see their health care costs skyrocket, and some may have to choose between filling a prescription and putting food on the table.
I led a letter to the Trump Admin calling out their failure to meet basic goals for clearing dangerous brush in our forests. This work prevents fires & protects communities, but they are FAILING. Hitting only HALF their target is UNACCEPTABLE. I’m pushing for a plan that keeps Oregonians safe 👇
On this day in 1970, Cesar Chavez was jailed for his work defending the rights of farmworkers. His courageous efforts helped transform labor justice in America. Today, 55 years later, we honor his legacy and recommit to fighting for fair treatment of all workers and laborers.
ALL @housedemocrats.bsky.social have signed a discharge petition to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits. We just need a few, reasonable Republicans to join us to STOP massive premium increases that will make health care UNAFFORDABLE for millions of Americans.
Just got off the floor to call out President Trump and his Administration's desperate attempts to hide the truth about what is happening inside ICE facilities. I visited the Tacoma ICE facility, where ICE tried to lie to my face. I won’t let them get away with it. Hear my full speech 🎧
Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities — a time to amplify and advance the rights and wellbeing of the 1.3 billion people worldwide with disabilities. I’m working to ensure that everyone has equal access to opportunities that will enable our friends and neighbors to thrive.
Patients are being warned to stop using some glucose monitors made by Abbott Diabetes Care after the company found malfunctioning sensors may be linked to hundreds of adverse events and several deaths, the FDA said Tuesday.
Nearly 1 in 20 households is falling behind on their utility bills... yep, and Republicans' Big, Ugly Bill will only make things worse. President Trump is only interested in giving his billionaire buddies HUGE tax breaks, not lowering costs for hardworking Americans.
