Republicans’ Big Ugly would steal from your family and mine, just to give billionaires a gift for America’s birthday. It’s cruel, it’s inhumane. Democrats won’t stand for this.

✅ Make HHS prove it won't harm rural hospitals or reduce care access
✅ Block CHIP cuts to eligibility, enrollment, and benefits so keiki don't lose healthcare
✅ Make USDA prove SNAP cuts won’t hurt farmers
✅ Preserve GRAD PLUS loans for future doctors
We need to get our priorities straight.
A list of some amendments I filed to combat the Big Ugly Bill and focus on what's truly important: 🧵
Here with the local heroes at Kahumana Farms who sponsor Waiʻanae Kaukau 4 Keiki. The entire team is from the Westside and takes pride in caring for their community, packing 7,000 meals to help our Westside 'ohana keep food on the table. Big mahalo for all your helping hearts and hands!
Waianae Store is a family company that's served the Westside community for generations, supporting our local farmers & stocking their shelves with items their customers need & love. It was great talking to Kit about the success of the DaBux program & sharing concerns about SNAP funding cuts. Mahalo!
Busy day in Waianae: visited Self-Help Housing at Pokai Bay, met Waianae & Nanakuli students in Pua Kaiaulu summer program, dropped by Kaukau 4 Keiki & Waianae Store. Now headed back to D.C. to fight the Big Ugly Bill—to protect affordable housing, education, and programs that support our community.
Went on C-SPAN Washington Journal with John McArdle to answer live calls from viewers, Democrats and Republicans alike, to answer questions about Iran and the Big Ugly Bill. We discussed the classified briefing, the SCOTUS decision on Planned Parenthood, and other issues. Mahalo for the discussion.
As we celebrate the 53rd anniversary of Title IX and its trailblazing mother, Patsy T. Mink, I wanted to highlight all the "Patsy Pop-Ups" around the Capitol. Each one is a powerful reminder of how her courage opened doors for millions of women and LGBTQ+ students across the country.
In these challenging times, we all need a moment that makes us smile...as a @capac.house.gov member, I had to make sure Labubu was represented in the House! Leave name suggestions for me in the comments.
Despite the fact we are in the middle of a global AI race, the Trump Administration wants to gut the very institutions that give us a technological edge. We should be increasing, not cutting, funding that allows us to compete internationally and protect ourselves domestically.
Honored to join Maui Food Bank for the blessing of Uncle Mana, their new mobile food truck in Wailuku. Their work is crucial for our Maui ʻohana to get back on their feet. A heartfelt mahalo for all that you do to support our community and keep our keiki and kūpuna from going hungry!
Visited the Joint Traffic Management Center to see the work of our emergency dispatchers on Oʻahu. It was an honor to be with folks working hard to keep us safe. Mahalo for being the steady voice on the other end of the line, answering every call & guiding us thru our most challenging moments.
Trump promised to end endless wars. Instead, he’s dragged us closer to one. With no clear goals, no plan & no answers.
His unauthorized and unconstitutional attack is a dangerous escalation. Every American must ask, are they safer today after the President bombed Iran? The honest answer is no.
Honored to join the 75th Annual Installation Banquet of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Hawaiʻi. Congrats to incoming President Mitchell Dodo & mahalo to outgoing President Kaʻiu Kimura for advancing JCCIH’s mission of growing local business & strengthening Hawaiʻi Island.
I went on HNN Sunrise this morning to discuss whatʻs going on DC, from Israel/Iran to the Big Ugly Bill. We need Republicans in Congress to understand that if they cut Medicaid and SNAP, everyone in Hawaiʻi and across the country will suffer. Mahalo for having me!
Proud to join UH Hilo and Vibrant Hawaiʻi to launch the Kaukau 4 Keiki program, which provides nutritious meals to local kids throughout the summer. We need more funding for these programs, not cuts that take food away. Mahalo to everyone working to feed our keiki!

@tokuda.house.gov has today is #DemocraticDailyDownload and it is all about Republicans trying to cut SNAP with the budget betrayal bill. But what I love is that she actually went to the store and shows exactly how much staple items cost in Hawai’i

Met with staff at Queen’s Medical Center & toured the newly expanded ER at Punchbowl— set to welcome its first patient soon! Grateful to see how Queen’s is working to expand access to care, including in rural communities & see firsthand the lifesaving work happening in their transplant department.
Had a great discussion with Consular Corps of Hawaiʻi members about recent ICE actions, immigration, and our essential farm workers. With global dynamics shifting, I remain committed to continuing these important conversations and maintaining strong international relationships.

Donald Trump and Republicans are trying to steal food from hungry people to give huge tax breaks to billionaires.
@tokuda.house.gov shows just how difficult it is for thousands of Hawaiians – and millions more across the country – who rely on $6 a day from SNAP to feed their 'ohana (families).

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
