We’re seeing the most corrupt bargain in American history. Elon Musk spent over $280 million to elect Donald Trump, and Trump has given him the keys to the U.S. government.
We won’t let this stand.
Understand this: Elon Musk’s wealth is tied directly to contracts and regulations from the government agencies he now controls.
He spent over $280 million to elect Trump and now he's cashing in — AND they got rid of the inspectors general who could hold him accountable.
Gross corruption.
There’s something particularly sick about the richest man on earth trying to shut down an agency that has returned BILLIONS of dollars to Americans who were cheated by big corporations.
We need to shut down the Elon Musk operation NOW.
If you don’t believe RFK Jr.’s dangerous anti-vax views will be a problem at HHS, well…they are literally co-signed by the president of the United States.
Are Senate Republicans really about to put this extreme, anti-science zealot in charge of our country’s health care system?
Elon Musk thinks he can “shut down” vital agencies the American people rely on. Well, I think it’s time we shut down Elon Musk’s illegal operation.
WATCH: Even the Chairman of the Fed, who studiously avoids controversy, admits the Trump/Musk decision to pay CFPB employees to stop working is hardly about "government efficiency.”
They’d rather they stop work than go after fraudsters ripping off the American people⬇️
Trump and Musk are trying to cut vital services for the American people so they can pay for tax cuts for billionaires, and Americans everywhere are fighting back.
We're fighting in the Courts, in Congress, in the snow — everywhere and every day. We're not backing down.
Trump ran on lowering prices — but when you look at the rising price of eggs, it’s pretty clear that he and Elon Musk are focused on everything BUT that ⬇️
Elon Musk wants to fire merit-based federal employees and replace them with an army of political cronies.
That’s not government efficiency — it’s a recipe for corruption that will serve the billionaires at the expense of everyone else. We must shut down this illegal power grab.
🚨Tomorrow, Senator Alsobrooks and I will be hosting a live telephone town hall to hear directly from Marylanders who are gravely concerned about the illegal Musk-Trump power grab — and to discuss how we're fighting back.
Tune in tomorrow at 7:30PM: www.vanhollen.senate.gov/live
Our message to Elon Musk: keep your hands OFF our Social Security!!!
You know what doesn't scream "everything is above board?" Firing the person who is literally in charge of ethics.
But we know how this plays out — they fire the independent watchdogs, then they deliver for their billionaire friends.
A cycle of corruption.
The judiciary is a co-equal branch of government, just like Congress and the presidency. When Musk & his cronies do illegal things, it's their JOB to step in and block them.
Musk may get to be a dictator at Tesla — he doesn't get to be one in Washington.
🚨UPDATE: A federal judge has temporarily blocked this order from going into effect in 22 states, including Maryland.
We will continue to fight this outrageous and illegal move to cut critical funds for cancer research and so much more. This cannot and will not stand.
🚨We’re at the Social Security Administration HQ in Baltimore to make clear that we won't allow Musk and his cronies to attack federal workers and interfere with the Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits of working Americans.
Tune in now:
This is the richest man on earth bragging about destroying an agency that’s returned BILLIONS of dollars to working Americans who were cheated by big corporations.
Well guess what - the CFPB is protected by law and we will fight to ensure it can continue to fight for consumers.
Trump and Musk are slashing funding for lifesaving cancer research and much more.
More Americans will die as they take a sledgehammer to decades of medical progress and cripple research institutes in Maryland and nationwide.
We are fighting this with everything we’ve got.
