The ACA's preventative care coverage saves lives AND prevents costly medical bills down the road.   The Supreme Court should throw out the far-right lower court's legally flawed ruling and ensure Americans don't lose access to critical preventative care.
This is wrong. Our country should unite to provide full support to our fellow Americans facing large-scale natural disasters. We have done so in the past, and we should do so now. This is a time for leadership and action — not petty politics.
Maryland's law requiring a license to own a handgun is common sense — just as you need a driver's license to operate a vehicle.   Glad to see SCOTUS reject this challenge to Maryland’s law. Now we should pass my bill to expand this standard nationwide.
The whole world knows Nicolás Maduro lost Venezuela's presidential election last year. The Venezuelan people know it — and Maduro himself knows it, too. He has no right to claim the presidency today. We stand with the Venezuelan people in their ongoing fight for democracy.
Glad to see the Biden Administration extend TPS for Salvadoran and Venezuelan immigrants — many of whom have fled danger to build better lives here. We must continue to fight for common-sense immigration reform, including border security and a path to citizenship for TPS recipients and Dreamers.
The CA wildfires have been devastating. My thoughts are with all those affected by this disaster. The federal government must come together to support CA as we did for the Key Bridge collapse & other disasters. We're with you, @padilla.senate.gov and @schiff.senate.gov. All for one and one for all.
The people of D.C. deserve the same political rights as everyone else in this country. Today I reintroduced the D.C. Admission Act with Congresswoman Norton to finally grant #DCStatehood and end taxation without representation in our nation's capital.
Honored to join the Carter family for a touching and fitting service honoring a great American. President Carter made every one of his 100 years count — and his legacy will live on for generations to come.
Yet another year of record enrollment for health care coverage through the Affordable Care Act.   Make no mistake: if Republicans rollback our work to make ACA plans more affordable, millions of Americans will lose health care.   We can't let that happen.
No one chooses to get sick, and a medical emergency shouldn't destroy someone's credit score. I’ve pushed for years to remove medical debt from credit reports, and this action from the Biden Administration will finally make that a reality.
This shouldn’t be controversial: big polluters should pay to clean up their mess, and those who pollute the most should pay the most. Today I reintroduced my Polluters Pay Climate Fund Act to tackle the climate crisis and hold big polluters accountable. It's time to make it law.
Yesterday President Biden signed our Social Security Fairness Act to ensure public workers receive the full Social Security benefits they've paid into and earned over years of hard work. This will help millions more Americans retire with dignity — including tens of thousands of Marylanders.
Fact: extending all of the Trump tax cuts would disproportionately benefit the ultra-wealthy and big corporations. It is mostly a handout for billionaires — and more of the same, tired ‘trickle-down’ economics that has never worked⬇️
Today, Congress will certify the results of the presidential election. Today will be peaceful — an orderly exercise of constitutional duty. But we cannot forget that was not the case just four short years ago. We must never again take a peaceful transfer of power for granted.
In addition to Senator Alsobrooks, yesterday we also welcomed three terrific new House members to Maryland’s federal delegation.   Congratulations to Reps. Delaney, Elfreth and Olszewski — I look forward to working together for #TeamMaryland!
Congratulations to Angela Alsobrooks on officially being sworn in as our new U.S. Senator for Maryland! Angela, we’ve worked together for years to deliver for our state — and I’m so glad we’re bringing that partnership to the U.S. Senate. Let’s get to work!
From responding to the Key Bridge tragedy to the election and everything in between, 2024 has been a rollercoaster. I hope you and your loved ones have a happy and restful New Year. As we usher in 2025, let’s look back on 2024 — and prepare for what’s to come in the year ahead⬇️
