As a member of @reprocaucus.bsky.social, I know Women’s History Month isn’t just about reflecting on the past — it’s also about advocating for women today.   With reproductive rights under attack, we must redouble our efforts to protect access to vital care and codify Roe v. Wade.
Last month, I celebrated Black History Month with Virginians in five different localities.  Black history is American history. As #BHM comes to a close, we must remain committed to striving for a more just and inclusive world.
Without serious U.S. leadership at the negotiating table, our service men and women around the globe are in more danger than they were yesterday. And that’s despicable. The focus needs to be on achieving a lasting peace acceptable to Ukraine.
Thank you to everyone who played a role in making this care center — now the largest in the nation — a reality.   Your hard work ensures that those who have given so much to this country receive the care they have earned.
The facility is also a testament to our ongoing commitment to expanding access to care for veterans across Virginia — particularly in this region, which is one of the fastest-growing veteran communities in the country.
Ray was slated to get annual, necessary check-ups done at this care center, but since the administration has frozen all federal hiring, he has to reschedule and drive to Richmond. This facility will provide state of the art care and should come online ASAP.
Today, I joined @markwarner.bsky.social and @timkaine01.bsky.social for a ribbon cutting for the new VA health care center in Fredericksburg.   I shared the story of my constituent Ray, a combat Army vet who also served as a civilian employee for the VA. More on Ray's story below.
Five former secretaries of defense are right — Congress must hold hearings on Trump’s reckless firings of top military leaders. I sent a letter demanding answers on these moves that put our nation and service members at risk. This cannot go unchecked.
This week, the House GOP voted to cut $880 BILLION from Medicaid. Millions of families rely on Medicaid for healthcare — including more than 125,000 Virginians in the Seventh District. This is unacceptable.
This #BlackHistoryMonth, I was glad to join Tiya Shaw's 'For the Love of Fredericksburg: A Celebration of African American Enterprise' walking tour. This was a powerful look at the resilience and impact of the entrepreneurs who shaped our community. Thanks for having me!
This week, I enjoyed speaking with students from Top Teens of America at the Fredericksburg American Museum. I was so impressed by this bright young group of Virginians who are deeply committed to broadening their horizons and bettering their communities.
It was great to see so many local leaders from across Virginia and the Seventh District on Capitol Hill for a ‘Commonwealth Coffee’ honoring Black History Month. Thank you to Bishop S.Y. Younger for starting our meeting with such a heartfelt, passionate prayer.
The GOP’s budget guts critical social safety nets like Medicaid and SNAP. My colleagues in the Dads Caucus and I reaffirmed that we will not stand idly by while Republicans hurt working families and small businesses in exchange for tax breaks for billionaires.
Today marks nine years since Prince William County Police Officer Ashley Guindon was killed in the line of duty on her first day of work.  Cindy and I are keeping her family, loved ones, and fellow PWCPD officers in our thoughts today and every day.
I’m proud to have been named chair of the @newdems.bsky.social Task Force on Diplomacy. As a former National Security Council advisor and Army Veteran, I know the U.S. must modernize its defense and diplomatic capabilities to best protect American citizens at home and abroad.
Today, New Dems announced our vision and policy priorities for the 119th Congress. Watch chair @repschneider.bsky.social discuss how New Dems' nine working groups will deliver results for the American people ⬇️
HELL YEAH: During my interview with Congressman Eugene Vindman, he BLASTED Trump for supporting Putin over Ukraine: “Dangerous. Dishonorable. Disgusting.” He then attacked Trump’s lies: “Anybody that tells you Ukraine is responsible for starting this war, whether it’s Putin or Trump, is LYING.”
