Trump’s Supreme Court has gutted the protections that Dr. King marched for. The protections made possible by civil rights protestors who spilled blood in pursuit of a more perfect union. This is a devastating and profound step backwards for American Democracy.
I joined first responders in prayer this afternoon as they work to battle the wildfires that are active in Brantley County and southern Georgia. These crews are doing heroic work to protect lives and property. Check in on your neighbors and stay safe, Georgia.
I will be on the floor of the Senate all night voting NO on yet another funding increase for ICE. ICE already has more funding than the Marines. This money should be spent on things Americans need like health care, not Trump’s paramilitary force.
I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Congressman David Scott. Rep. Scott was a true public servant. He spent his career fighting for the people of Georgia in the State House, State Senate, and Congress. I am praying for his family and loved ones.
I'm carefully monitoring the wildfires that are sweeping across Georgia. I'm thankful for the brave firefighters running into danger to preserve our safety. Stay safe and listen to local warnings. My office remains ready to assist those in need.
This is a moral catastrophe. Republicans in Congress cut health care to give billionaires a tax break. Now, 500k+ Georgians have lost their health insurance. Too many will go bankrupt from treatable illnesses or avoid getting care until it’s too late.
