I was glad to meet with future leaders from Rhode Island College to discuss what’s happening on the Hill and hear their perspectives on current issues. Despite the current challenges we face, their commitment to public service is just the inspiration we need.
No matter how many times you say it, it doesn’t make it true. You’re destroying health care from community health centers to nursing homes to health coverage affordability. Be honest. Have bipartisan negotiations. Open the government. Save health care.
Mike Johnson: "Republicans are the party that are fixing healthcare. We just demonstrated that in the one big beautiful bill."
Here are the facts: This Republican shutdown is about PROTECTING health care affordability. Republicans are not being honest and trying to distract from the truth: House Republicans do not want to lower costs and protect your health care.
This #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, we must come together to honor the fighters, celebrate the survivors, and remember those lost to breast cancer. In Congress, I’m fighting to safeguard cancer research and clinical trials while holding the line to lower health care costs.
Republicans are making Americans sicker & poorer. They cut $1 trillion from our health care system in their Big, Ugly Law. Now, they’re on vacation letting 7 in 10 Americans' worry about their health care costs DOUBLING. House Republicans need to get back to work & save health care.
I heard stories of the life-changing impact of the Women, Infants & Children (WIC) nutrition program. Its funding shouldn’t be a question.   My CARE for WIC during Shutdowns Act makes sure states can step in & fund WIC during a shutdown & know the feds will pay them back.
Met with Neighborhood Health Plan CEO Peter Marino to discuss how their work to provide affordable health care will suffer. 89% of their clients will see costs spike without action from House Republicans.   We must keep fighting for the health care you deserve.
Joined @alivitali.bsky.social on @waytooearly.bsky.social to share what I’m hearing from Rhode Islanders about the impacts of the House Republican health care crisis.   Families across #RI01 are trying to figure out how to afford $1200+ premium hikes while Republicans are on vacation.
If it isn’t bad enough that House Republicans shut down the government rather than protect health care, Trump is slashing Social Security.   ❌Plotting to strip disability benefits ❌Distracting the Social Security head with a second important job ❌Making Social Security insolvent sooner
I visited Children's Friend, a key state partner in helping pregnant women, moms, infants, and kids access WIC and get the nutrition & health support they need.   My bill would keep WIC on track to help states and participating families, regardless of the Republican shutdown.
🔔New bill to protect women & children from the Republican shutdown 🔔   My new CARE for WIC During a Shutdown Act ensures states have certainty they will receive federal government reimbursement to ensure moms & kids see no disruption to WIC when there is a shutdown.
House Republicans last came to work on September 19th — they’ve been on vacation for 18 days! Most Americans don’t get that many vacation days in a YEAR. House Republicans need to get back to work to end the health care crisis they created and open the government.
Two years after October 7th, I mourn those taken from families and loved ones by Hamas’ terrorist attack on the people of Israel, the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust.
Rhode Islanders and Americans across our country cannot afford soaring health care costs. They NEED affordable health care.   This is what @housedemocrats.bsky.social are fighting for.
🚨Speaker Johnson lying on TV about destroying Americans’ health care. 🚨 Stop it. Remember, House Republicans: 1) Cut $1 trillion from health care in the Big, Ugly Law  2) Are letting health care costs soar 3) Shut down the government b/c they don’t care about your health care
Mike Johnson: "Let me look right into the camera and tell you very clearly: Republicans are the ones concerned about healthcare. Republicans are the party working around the clock everyday to fix healthcare. This is not talking points for us: we've done it."
