The Republican majority is negligent in their refusal to exert Congressional authority. Iran has certainly taken some outrageous and threatening actions, but the response must not be from the President alone.
Despite taking an oath to defend the Constitution, the President has now unilaterally called for regime change and started a full-scale war with Iran, endangering U.S. troops and our regional allies.
Donald Trump promised to end wars, not start them. The consequences of war are so grave that our founding fathers established in the Constitution that the power to declare war is with Congress.
Cuts like these will close the doors of opportunity for students in Oregon and across the country. I call on the Trump administration to restore this funding immediately.
Public schools are in our neighborhoods to serve every student in every community, and they open doors of opportunity. Please join me in celebrating Public Schools Week 2026 #PSW26 and fighting efforts to undermine public education.
While Trump dismantles the Department of Education, House Democrats are dedicated to providing every student and teacher with access to the resources and knowledge they need to succeed in the classrooms and careers of tomorrow.
AI is increasingly present in the classroom, but educators and students are often left to navigate its risks and opportunities without support. 🧵
Oregon’s coastal communities understand the power and vulnerability of the ocean, and they should have a voice in studying mCDR. As Co-Chair of the House Oceans Caucus, I’m pleased to join my colleagues in leading this bipartisan legislation to explore responsible use of mCDR.
Marine carbon dioxide (mCDR) removal is a promising strategy that can enhance the ocean’s role as a natural carbon sink to absorb and store emissions. But we need more rigorous science, meaningful federal investment, and a clear research framework to safely deploy it.
We must reduce carbon pollution, which contributes to more frequent and extreme weather events. 🧵
Thank you so much to everyone who joined @agdanrayfield.bsky.social and me at my telephone town hall meeting yesterday. We will get through these challenging times together.
REMINDER: My team will be available for casework office hours today at the Beaverton library from 11am-1pm.
Thank you to all who attended my telephone town hall meeting with @agdanrayfield.bsky.social. At such a critical point in our nation, it was meaningful to connect with constituents and to have such an avid defender of democracy join us for the conversation.
I will continue to stand with my colleagues against this authoritarian regime. Together, we will keep fighting.
I will not sit in the State of the Union while Donald Trump lies, demonizes immigrants, and threatens democracy. Instead, I will be hosting a telephone town hall meeting with Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield to listen to you and hear your ideas and concerns. I hope you will join me.
I am excited to report that my bipartisan ASCEND Act passed the House, bringing us one step closer to getting the data we need for more sustainable and resilient communities.
At a time when the earth’s systems are rapidly changing, we must give scientists the best resources available to keep pace with the challenges ahead. Small satellites can offer powerful insights into global problems, including wildfires, ocean health, air quality, and extreme weather. 🧵
I will not attend the State of the Union. My guest ticket will be used to lift the voices of the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein who will be there with @demwomencaucus.bsky.social America deserves answers.
Congratulations to NAEYC on 100 years. Education is the best investment we can make and I will continue the fight with you.
