It's also worth remembering that this war did not emerge in a vacuum.
During his first administration, President Trump withdrew from a diplomatic agreement negotiated by the Obama Administration that had successfully halted Iran’s nuclear program.

Our key allies were not consulted before President Trump chose to wage this war, and his unhinged rhetoric and disregard for its broader impact has led to an unprecedented rise in anti-American sentiment around the globe.

The closure of the vital Strait of Hormuz and strikes on energy infrastructure in the region have also led to devastating consequences for the global economy which have only begun to manifest.
5/
The strategic costs also continue to mount. U.S. stockpiles of critical munitions are now dangerously low, and Iranian counterattacks have caused tens of billions of dollars in damage to American military assets.
4/
The human toll alone has been staggering. 13 American servicemembers have been killed in action, with hundreds more wounded – many with serious injuries, and thousands more civilian across the region losing their lives.
3/
We must pursue an agreement to end all hostilities is the best course of action, but we must recognize that some of the damage caused by this war is irreversible, and that we will be dealing with the consequences of these decisions for decades to come.

Despite Republicans' refusal to support a War Powers Resolution to end this war, I'm encouraged that the American people’s rejection of this war seems to have spurred President Trump to pursue a durable resolution.
Ending this reckless war in Iran is a moral imperative and the best path forward.
Before becoming national news, many of our most important stories start as local investigations. The loss of this vital, on-the-ground journalism doesn’t just harm the communities they serve but it deprives the wider world of stories that might otherwise never be told.

A new @jecdems.bsky.social report found Donald Trump is making America's housing crisis worse.
His stupid tariffs have driven up the costs of building and furnishing a home by up to $17,000 per home!
Fewer homes, higher prices, Trump's America keeps getting more expensive.

IT'S OFFICIAL: The House has passed our extension of TPS for Haiti.
This win wouldn't be possible without the strength & organizing of our movement to defend our Haitian neighbors.
To those in the #MA7 & beyond, this is for you.
The Senate must pick this up without delay.
If you or someone you know needs help, please reach out to the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.
I urge anyone experiencing a time of crisis to call or text 9-8-8 to connect with immediate support
This tragedy is a devastating reminder that domestic violence can affect any family or community. It's important that we recognize the warning signs, support those at risk, and take action to prevent such violence.
I'm heartbroken by the horrific act of domestic violence that has taken Cerina Fairfax’s life and left their children without parents. My thoughts are with those children, their family, loved ones, and all in our community who are grieving.
At today's @waysmeanscmte.bsky.social hearing, I asked RFK Jr. how many more millions of dollars he intends to take from efforts to reduce health costs and improve patient experience.
He didn't answer my question, and instead bragged about a Yale-educated physician who's in charge of these cuts.

The flailing health chief yelled, argued, interrupted, and denied his own words during a heated exchange with a congresswoman.
An opening act of Trump's war of choice was the massacre of schoolkids in Iran.
Those kids would be alive today if Congress had done our job and restrained the president's lust for power.
Sadly, House Republicans again blocked a bill to end the war.
A contemptible failure of moral leadership.
More on our Millionaires Surtax Act, legislation to ensure the richest among us pay their fair share:
beyer.house.gov/news/documen...
Following Donald Trump and Republicans’ massive tax cuts for the richest few, the wealthiest pay little to no taxes while working Americans shoulder the burden.
Our millionaires surtax would restore fairness to the tax code and fund key priorities for the American people.
Donald Trump and House Republicans promised working families tax refunds exceeding $1,000, but refunds have not met those promises.
On top of that, tariffs added around $1,700 in extra costs for families last year.
More failed promises and added costs!
