I joined CNN This Morning to discuss President Trump’s reckless cuts to the federal workforce. This administration, in their rush to make decisions, are clearly making mistakes – like firing the experts at the CDC and USDA in charge of tackling the bird flu.
I don’t see how cuts to a historically understaffed VA won’t impact veterans. In my first hearing as Ranking Member of the Tech Mod Subcommittee, I highlighted my concerns with how slashing VA staff would make it harder to implement the Electronic Health Records Modernization Program.
I’m proud to stand in solidarity with lettercarriers.bsky.social who are standing up against Trump’s plans to privatize the postal service and fire the Postal Board of Governors. I will always fight for the hardworking men and women of the USPS.
🧵 NALC President Brian L. Renfroe: 2 weeks ago, we rallied for the fights ahead. Now, we’re here today in the fight of our lives. 🚨 The admin wants to dismantle USPS, fire the Board of Governors & strip away our independence. You know what we’ve got to say to that? HELL NO! #FightLikeHell
Veterans shouldn’t have to face confusing forms & jargon when they apply for the benefits they’ve earned. My Clear Communications for Veterans Act would make this process easier by requiring the VA to eliminate over-complicated language from their communications with veterans.
It has never been more critical to fight for reproductive freedom. I'm working to safeguard access to critical care for women in Illinois and across the country.
Springfield native Senator Doris Turner has dedicated more than three decades to public service in Illinois. She has been a fierce advocate for education throughout her time in office, fighting to make college more affordable and ensure every child in Illinois has the opportunity to succeed.
No matter where you live, you deserve access to high-quality health care. I'm proud to team up with Rep. David Kustoff to introduce the bipartisan Rural America Health Corps Act to help rural communities recruit and retain doctors, dentists, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
As a union member, I understand how important it is for workers to have a voice on the job. I'm proud to introduce bipartisan legislation to protect labor rights for first responders to be able to advocate for higher pay, better benefits and safer working conditions.
“I have nightmares about what’s going to happen to my children." ⬆️ That's what an East St. Louis teacher told the Belleville News-Democrat about Trump's plans to gut the Department of Education. We will not be silent while the president threatens our public schools. www.bnd.com/news/local/e...
85 years ago, the extraordinary John Lewis was born. I continue to be inspired by Congressman Lewis' legacy as the "conscience of Congress" and an unyielding champion for justice and equal rights.
The Postal Service isn’t a for-profit company. It’s a public good that millions of Americans—especially in Rural America—rely on for mail delivery. This move by President Trump is another example of putting profits over working people. We will fight this.
📬🚨 HUGE NEWS 📬🚨 Trump plans to fire the USPS governing board, merge the Postal Service into the Commerce Department. It would disrupt 55 years of non-political mail service, and threatens to upend trillions of dollars of ecommerce and the 250 year-old US mail system.
Born and raised in the Metro East, Miles Davis was one of the most influential figures in the history of jazz. His unique sound and extraordinary skill as a trumpeter has inspired generations of musicians. #BlackHistoryMonth
This is disappointing news for St. Clair County, which is waiting on $89.5 million in disaster relief from this office. The people this office serves are in urgent need of help to rebuild their lives — gutting it only makes their struggle harder.
For too long, Big Pharma has manipulated the market to keep prices high for everyday Americans. My BLOCKING Act would end the unfair practice of "parking exclusivity" and help bring more low-cost drug options onto the market.
I’m fighting in Congress to increase access to E15— a biofuel blend that helps lower gas prices, reduce dependence on foreign oil and create new markets for Illinois corn growers! I just reintroduced my bill to make E15 available at the gas pump year-round.
