Today, Speaker Johnson said he has “no strategy” to fix the shutdown his party created. That’s ridiculous. Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the Presidency – they need to start putting the American people first.
We’re two weeks into the government shutdown, and Republicans are nowhere to be found. This has gone on far too long. The economy is suffering and healthcare costs are going up – it’s time to get to work, House GOP.
🚨TOWN HALL ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨 I will be hosting a telephone town hall TOMORROW with special guest @aguilar.house.gov, Chair of @housedemocrats.bsky.social to talk about the Republican shutdown. RSVP at the link below to receive a call to join at 5:30 PT ⬇️ forms.gle/heJCLv5Y8qWK...
On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the history and contributions of our Tribal communities.  We must continue to work towards a future rooted in sovereignty, justice, and equality.
I am relieved by the news this morning that all 20 living hostages have been safely returned home. My prayers are with them, their families, and their loved ones. This is an encouraging step towards an end to the conflict – we must continue to work to bring aid and peace to the region.
Hamas has released all 20 remaining living hostages. The Israeli military says it has taken custody of them and will transport them onward to Israel. Follow AP's live updates.
Republicans have been on vacation for almost two weeks while Oregonians are facing higher healthcare costs, our economy is suffering, and servicemembers are being forced to work without pay.  They created this crisis, and they need to come to the table to get us out of it.
I surveyed over 300,000 of my constituents, and most of the respondents said they don’t approve of the National Guard being deployed to Portland.  As I’ve said: we don’t need this, and we don’t want this.
Republicans caused this shutdown, and instead of coming back to DC to fix it, they’re on vacation. The result? 15 million Americans will lose health insurance, 22 million will face higher healthcare costs, and the economy will continue to suffer. It’s time to get to work, House Republicans.
I'm demanding a thorough investigation into what happened to Frank Miranda, my constituent who was abducted by masked ICE agents without reason. This behavior is unacceptable and un-American. It has no place in our state or our country. www.wweek.com/news/2025/10...
Republicans’ failure to reopen the government means less food on the table for families. All because they refuse to come to the table to negotiate on a budget that works for everyone, not just billionaires. www.pbs.org/newshour/nat...
After two years of pain and suffering, I'm encouraged by this step toward peace. My hope is that the hostages are safely reunited with their families and loved ones, that humanitarian aid quickly is delivered, and that this brings an end to the conflict in the region. www.npr.org/2025/10/08/g...
I was horrified and infuriated to learn that a constituent of mine was abducted by ICE agents, handcuffed, and thrown into a back of a van, all without reason. Masked federal agents aren’t welcome in our state and they can’t keep kidnapping Americans. My full statement ⬇️
Sec. Noem came to our city for a couple hours yesterday & now she thinks she understands what we need. Instead of playing toy soldiers with our armed forces, this Administration should focus on restoring our health care, lowering our costs & reopening the government. www.kgw.com/article/news...
It’s Day 8️⃣ of the Republican shutdown – I want to hear from you. If you or someone you know has been impacted, please share your story with me – it’s your stories that fuel this fight. forms.gle/fwPqh1Cjde8h...
