Maria Ellen Cantwell is an American politician serving as the junior U.S. senator from Washington since 2001. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously served in the Washington House of Representatives from 1987 to 1993 and in the United States House of Representatives from 1993 to 1995.

I took few minutes with @momsrising.org the other day to get the word out: In 29 states, health insurance rates are projected to go up by more than 20%. If my Republican colleagues are serious about driving down health care costs, then let's protect ACA tax credits that are expiring.
Hopefully this critical breakthrough will be quickly followed by an immediate surge of humanitarian aid delivered by a multinational peacekeeping force and a genuine effort to find lasting and prosperous peace in the region through the acceptance of a durable and equitable two state solution. (2/2)
More than 70,000 King County residents receive enhanced premium tax credits to help them afford health insurance. If the credits aren’t extended, a couple earning $52K/year with an adult dependent son will see their annual health insurance cost skyrocket from $490 to $2,830.
We need to act right now. We need to say to families who are going to be threatened by this that we can work together and we have a plan.
Tony has stage-four thymic carcinoma. With the expanded ACA tax credits, he's been able to get life-saving care. Without them, his healthcare costs would jump & he'd have to drop his coverage altogether. While Democrats fight for families like his, Republicans chose to shut down the government.
God forbid that these people get sick or have a condition that is really life threatening, because people don't want to come up with a solution today. It is not that hard. We can extend these tax credits. We can have affordable health insurance in the market.
