My heart breaks for another family that must bear the horrific pain that comes with losing a loved one. How many more Americans must die at the hands of federal agents before Republicans in Congress will put an end to the administration’s reckless, lawless, and dangerous immigration agenda?
Alex Pretti, the man killed by federal agents today in Minneapolis, appears to have been a registered nurse, an athlete, a son and a brother, with ties to Colorado and Wisconsin. Here is a photo he used for several accounts.
If the administration moves forward with these plans, it would be akin to a death sentence for many of these individuals. It would be morally reprehensible and should be stopped immediately.
Exclusive: ICE plans to deport 40 Iranians days after mass killings of thousands of protesters in Iran. Two of the deportees are gay & terrified of returning to a country where homosexuality is punishable by death, their lawyer says. w/ @lbarronlopez.bsky.social www.ms.now/news/trump-d...
It's been nearly 2 weeks since @housedemocrats.bsky.social successfully passed an extension of ACA tax credits in the House of Representatives to help lower health care costs for hardworking families. Senate Republicans should stop blocking this legislation & provide relief to the American people.
Leader Thune should bring House Democrats’ legislation to extend the ACA tax credits to the Senate floor for a vote immediately. People’s lives are on the line.
While the administration claims to be focused on the worst of the worst, we continue to see these extraordinarily disturbing reports about the actions of ICE. The lack of humanity is shocking, even if it is not surprising. America must be better than this.
A viral image of 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos shows the boy standing with a blank stare in a blue knit hat with white bunny ears. Liam and his father were captured by ICE officers in Minnesota. School officials say that the child was used “as bait” by ICE.
Every day, it becomes clearer that the administration is disregarding the rule of law & undermining the constitutional rights that were created to protect Americans from a tyrannical government. I refuse to provide additional funding to this lawless agency until comprehensive reforms are enacted.
BREAKING: Immigration officers are asserting sweeping power to enter homes without a judge’s warrant, a memo obtained by AP says.
Every administration, regardless of party, has an obligation to respond to the concerns of communities nationwide. That’s why I’ve introduced a bipartisan bill with Rep. Lawler to ensure the Secretary of HUD testifies before Congress annually. I hope Secretary Turner will help us make it law.
As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, I’m thrilled that Kansas City and the National WWI Museum and Memorial have been selected to display some of our founding documents later this spring. Find more information on this exciting announcement here: theworldwar.org/news/nationa...
The administration’s extreme mass deportation agenda is increasingly out of control, as they continue to sow chaos and undermine the civil liberties of legal residents and American citizens. Congress has the power to stop this—but Republicans must stand up.
Federal immigration agents forced open a door and detained a U.S. citizen in his Minnesota home at gunpoint without a warrant, then led him out onto the streets in his underwear in subfreezing conditions, according to his family and videos reviewed by the AP. https://to.pbs.org/4qxlxAh
“For every federal job that’s gone, about one-and-a-half jobs could be lost from other economic sectors.” The president’s assault on federal workers is not only harming critical services, but it also threatens to undermine local economies as well. www.kcur.org/politics-ele...
Families in Missouri saw their overall costs increase by more than $1,400 last year due to the president’s tariff taxes and regressive economic policies. I’ll keep fighting to lower costs by extending ACA tax credits and opposing reckless tariffs.
“foreign exporters absorbed only about 4% of the burden of last year’s U.S. tariff increases by lowering their prices, while American consumers and importers absorbed 96%.” The president said he would lower costs. Instead, he's driving up prices on American consumers and small businesses.
By analyzing $4 trillion of shipments between January 2024 and November 2025, researchers found that foreign exporters absorbed only about 4% of the burden of last year’s U.S. tariff increases by lowering their prices, while American consumers and importers absorbed 96%. www.wsj.com/economy/trad...
It is extraordinarily disturbing that Elon Musk and X are allowing users to post non-consensual sexualized AI images on their platform. It is beyond disgraceful—it’s dangerous. If they will not take action to stop it, then Congress must. www.theguardian.com/technology/2...
Housing — especially that which receives government support — is expected to meet standards that protect residents’ health and safety. What I saw at Bowen Tower did not meet those standards. It needs to be addressed immediately. www.kmbc.com/article/bowe...
Today, we honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. As we celebrate his enduring legacy, let us also recommit ourselves to carrying on his fight for justice and equality for all people.
Tenants pay their hard-earned dollars on rent every single month, and they deserve safe, dignified homes in return. Sadly, what I witnessed at Bowen Tower did not meet the bare minimum standard that every tenant has a right to expect. These issues should be addressed immediately.
