Happy Jewish American Heritage Month! This May, as we celebrate the rich heritage and many ways Jewish Americans have strengthened our culture and society, let us also honor their contributions by recommitting to the fight against antisemitism and hate in all forms.
Missouri families were already struggling to stay afloat due to the president’s tariff taxes driving up costs. Now, they’re paying substantially more every time they fill up their gas tank because of the president’s disastrous war in the Middle East. They deserve better.
⛽ Average U.S. gas prices per gallon on May 1, per AAA ⛽ • Regular: $4.39 (⬆️ $0.09 from yesterday, ⬆️ $1.41 since war in Iran began on Feb. 28) • Premium: $5.24 (⬆️ $1.38 since war began) • Diesel: $5.57 (⬆️ $1.81 since war began)
Happy Asian American, Native Hawaiian, & Pacific Islander Heritage Month! Throughout the month of May, we honor these communities, celebrate their rich culture, and recognize the countless contributions they have made to our country.
Today, we celebrate International Workers Day. As we recognize the workers who built this nation, let us honor their legacy by continuing to demand fair wages, safer workplaces, and the right to organize. That’s what I’ll keep fighting for in Congress.
After blocking bipartisan legislation to fund DHS for months, House Republicans finally allowed lawmakers to end the longest shutdown in the history of DHS. I was proud to support the legislation, ensuring federal workers can continue to receive their hard-earned paychecks.
House passes the Senate-approved DHS funding bill by a voice vote. It funds everything in DHS except ICE/CBP, including TSA, FEMA, Coast Guard, CISA. This ends a 75-day shutdown. Bill now goes to Trump to become law. www.nbcnews.com/politics/con...
American families are struggling under the GOP cost-of-living crisis—but Republicans refuse to do anything to lower costs for the people. Instead, they want to give an unaccountable ICE more money to antagonize the public. I think that funding should go toward lowering costs for families.
I believe Congress can do better than today's legislation, and it is my hope the Senate will work together to craft a truly bipartisan & comprehensive Farm Bill that provides meaningful relief to Americans who desperately need it. When that occurs, I look forward to supporting the final package.
Rather than working to lower housing, health care or grocery costs, Republicans in Congress are prioritizing another tax cut that overwhelmingly benefits the wealthiest Americans. It’s a slap in the face to working-class families that are struggling to stay afloat. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
Today’s appalling decision by the Supreme Court to unilaterally gut the Voting Rights Act is not only wrong—it is deeply disrespectful of the generations of African Americans and civil rights advocates who gave their freedom, their blood, and even their lives to make it possible. My full statement:
As a direct result of the president’s disastrous war in the Middle East, gas prices are now at a multi-year high—which is crushing families in #MO05 and all across the country. It’s time that Congress put an end to this conflict before more damage is done.
U.S. gas prices hit a fresh record since the start of the war with Iran, rising to an average nationwide of $4.23 per gallon, according to the motor club AAA.
Gas prices are spiraling out of control—and Missouri families are paying the price. It’s time that Congress put an end to the president’s disastrous war in the Middle East before more damage is done. www.kansascity.com/news/local/a...
Whether you are a farmer in Missouri or a shrimp boat captain in Texas, American workers are paying the price for the president’s disastrous war in the Middle East. Congress must step in and put an end to this self-inflicted crisis.
The surge in diesel prices since the Iran war make it almost impossible to turn a profit, shrimp boat captains tell NBC News: "The industry is going to disappear."
It’s no secret that Congress is deeply unpopular with the American people. Last week, I spoke with Fox4KC about the need for Congress to stop the political bickering and start providing bipartisan solutions that will deliver real relief to the public. Watch here: fox4kc.com/politics/4-t...
